Point‐of‐care ultrasound performed at the bedside identified hepatic portal venous gas in a critically ill neonate, prompting urgent evaluation and revealing intestinal perforation due to necrotizing enterocolitis. This case highlights the potential of POCUS to accelerate diagnosis when clinical signs are subtle or nonspecific.

Telemedicine-assisted point-of-care ultrasound to improve the quality of patient care in rural areas [PDF]
Purpose Limited access to specialist expertise in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in rural areas may adversely affect patient care and healthcare systems by increasing reliance on costly imaging modalities (e.g., computed tomography or magnetic ...

In 80 singleton pregnancies at term, handheld point‐of‐care ultrasound (POCUS) was compared with conventional ultrasound for fetal Doppler assessment. Umbilical artery PI, middle cerebral artery PI, and cerebroplacental ratio showed agreement between devices. Between‐device variability was comparable to intra‐observer repeatability, supporting handheld

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is often underdiagnosed in ruling out the cardiac cause for any syncope. It is an inherited cardiomyopathy characterized by fibro-fatty replacement of right ventricular myocardium. ARVC is the second most common cause of sudden cardiac death (SCD) after hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM)

Renal screening sonography—A comparative study in a Portuguese basic emergency service
Renal sonography screening aids in clinical decision‐making for patients with suspected renal colic. This study intends to compare the accuracy and pertinence of sonographic findings obtained by a sonographer in a Basic Emergency Service (BES) with that of radiologists at Referral Hospital (RH) in Portugal. Renal sonography screening was able to detect
