Interest Points of General Imbalance
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2009The imbalance oriented selection scheme was recently introduced to detect stable interest points in weakly or sparsely textured images. The scheme chooses image points whose one-pixel-wide directional intensity variations can be clustered into two imbalanced classes as candidates. An important property of imbalance oriented selection is that imbalanced

Point-of-Interest Recommendations
Proceedings of the 22nd ACM SIGKDD International Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, 2016The emergence of Location-based Social Network (LBSN) services provides a wonderful opportunity to build personalized Point-of-Interest (POI) recommender systems. Although a personalized POI recommender system can significantly facilitate users' outdoor activities, it faces many challenging problems, such as the hardness to model user's POI decision ...

Automated evaluation of interest point detectors
2013 IEEE/ACIS 12th International Conference on Computer and Information Science (ICIS), 2013Interest point detectors are important components in a variety of computer vision systems. This paper demonstrates an automated virtual 3D environment for controlling and measuring detected interest points on 2D images in an accurate and rapid manner.

Point of interest to region of interest conversion
Proceedings of the 21st ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems, 2013Trajectories of people contain a vast amount of information on users' interests and popularity of locations. To obtain this information, the places visited by the owner of the device on such a trajectory need to be recognized. However, the location information on a point of interest (POI) in a database is normally limited to an address and a coordinate

Integration of Points of Interest and Regions of Interest
2014 IEEE China Summit & International Conference on Signal and Information Processing (ChinaSIP), 2014Images consist of different low-level features, such as Points of Interest (POIs) and Regions of Interest (ROIs). A distinction between POIs and ROIs is that the latter ones have intrinsic scale information while the former ones may not have. In this paper, we propose a scheme to integrate these two kinds of image features.

Self-Similarity and Points of Interest
IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2010In this work, we present a new approach to interest point detection. Different types of features in images are detected by using a common computational concept. The proposed approach considers the total variability of local regions. The total sum of squares computed on the intensity values of a local circular region is divided into three components ...

Points of Interest and a Point of View
In Situ Archaeologica, 2003This paper provides for a number of insights that attempt to move beyond regional perspectives. In doing so, the term “culture”, for example, is briefly touched upon along with tanged points that have been found on the west coast of Sweden. In addition, “long range” seasonal rounds and eventual points of departure on the Continent have been taken into ...
