TRANSFORMATION KINETICS FOR NUCLEATION ON RANDOM PLANES AND LINES
Birth and growth processes are known in materials science as nucleation and growth processes. In crystalline materials nucleation almost always takes place in an internal crystalline defect. These defects are classified according to their dimensionality:

State-Dependent Fractional Point Processes [PDF]
In this paper we analyse the fractional Poisson process where the state probabilities pkνk(t), t ≥ 0, are governed by time-fractional equations of order 0 < νk ≤ 1 depending on the number k of events that have occurred up to time t. We are able to obtain explicitly the Laplace transform of pkνk(t) and various representations of state probabilities ...

A tutorial on estimator averaging in spatial point process models [PDF]
Assume that several competing methods are available to estimate a parameter in a given statistical model. The aim of estimator averaging is to provide a new estimator, built as a linear combination of the initial estimators, that achieves better ...

ABSTRACT Objectives To identify predictors of chronic ITP (cITP) and to develop a model based on several machine learning (ML) methods to estimate the individual risk of chronicity at the timepoint of diagnosis. Methods We analyzed a longitudinal cohort of 944 children enrolled in the Intercontinental Cooperative immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) Study ...

Drell-Yan process in soft-collinear effective theory near end-point
The Drell-Yan process is analyzed in soft-collinear effective theory near the end-point region. It is assumed that the relevant final-state hadron energy $Q(1-z)$ where $z$ is the momentum fraction transferred to the virtual photon is the typical ...

ABSTRACT Surveillance imaging aims to detect tumour relapse before symptoms develop, but it's unclear whether earlier detection of relapse leads to better outcomes in children and young people (CYP) with medulloblastoma and ependymoma. This systematic review aims to identify relevant literature to determine the efficacy of surveillance magnetic ...

Online Estimating Pairwise Neuronal Functional Connectivity in Brain–Machine Interface
Neurons respond to external stimuli and form functional networks through pairwise interactions. A neural encoding model can describe a single neuron’s behavior, and brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) provide a platform to investigate how neurons ...

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

“Statistics 103” for Multitarget Tracking
The finite-set statistics (FISST) foundational approach to multitarget tracking and information fusion was introduced in the mid-1990s and extended in 2001.

ABSTRACT Background We describe clinical and biologic characteristics of neuroblastoma in older children, adolescents, and young adults (OCAYA); describe survival outcomes in the post‐immunotherapy era; and identify if there is an age cut‐off that best discriminates outcomes.
