Point-source scalar turbulence [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2007
The statistics of a passive scalar randomly emitted from a point source is investigated analytically for the Kraichnan ensemble. Attention is focused on the two-point equal-time scalar correlation function, a statistical indicator widely used both in experiments and in numerical simulations.

The impacts of water level fluctuations from paddy fields and aquaculture ponds on wetland habitats for wintering waterbirds: Implications for wetland management

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2022
The distribution and composition of wetland habitats for wintering waterbirds are heavily influenced by water level fluctuations. Through polder construction and aquaculture activities, paddy fields and aquaculture ponds have decreased the lateral ...

Biochar reduces colloidal phosphorus in leachate by regulating phoD- and phoC-harboring microbial communities during drying/rewetting cycles

open access: yesBiochar, 2023
Drying and rewetting (DRW) events cause the release of colloidal phosphorus (Pcoll, 1–1000 nm) in leachate, and biochar is considered an effective inhibitor; however, the microbial mechanism remains elusive.

Effects of water hyacinth biochar on lettuce growth in cadmium-contaminated soil

open access: yesFrontiers in Soil Science, 2022
Recently, the excessive propagation of water hyacinth has led to serious ecological and environmental problems; thereby, its treatment and disposal are of great significance.

Enhancing rice production sustainability and resilience via reactivating small water bodies for irrigation and drainage

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Rice farming threatens freshwater resources, while also being increasingly vulnerable to drought due to climate change. Rice farming needs to become more sustainable and resilient to climate change by improving irrigation drainage systems.

Adaptability analysis and model development of various LS-factor formulas in RUSLE model: A case study of Fengyu River Watershed, China

open access: yesGeoderma, 2023
The slope length and slope steepness factor (LS-factor) formula in the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) has a considerable level of uncertainty due to the existence of multiple methods. In this study, four commonly used formulas for the slope
