ABSTRACT Stochastic Galerkin methods offer unexplored potential for the numerical simulation of parabolic problems with random variables, in particular if they are combined with variational discretizations of the space and time variables. Due to the high dimensionality, the solution of the arising algebraic systems do not become feasible without ...

ABSTRACT In this work, novel electrostatic aspects of sharp cracks in brittle dielectrics are discussed using the example of an impermeable Griffith crack in an infinite linear isotropic dielectric plate. On the one hand, electrostatic force densities stemming from the Maxwell stress tensor according to Lorentz are derived mathematically, where the ...

ABSTRACT We present an efficient multi‐object map‐matching approach for scene modeling in the context of automated driving. The mapping of traffic participants to the road topology is a key component of the scene modeling step in the processing pipeline for situation‐aware automated driving.

On the additive image of zeroth persistent homology
Abstract For a category X$X$ and a finite field F$F$, we study the additive image of the functor H0(−;F)∗:rep(X,Top)→rep(X,VectF)$\operatorname{H}_0(-;F)_* \colon \operatorname{rep}(X, \mathbf {Top}) \rightarrow \operatorname{rep}(X, \mathbf {Vect}_F)$, or equivalently, of the free functor rep(X,Set)→rep(X,VectF)$\operatorname{rep}(X, \mathbf {Set ...

Context‐free graphs and their transition groups
Abstract Starting from context‐free inverse graphs, we introduce a new class of groups and study their structural properties. We establish closure properties, show that their coword problems are context‐free, analyze torsion elements, and realize them as subgroups of the asynchronous rational group.

Infrared‐Guided Super‐Resolution of Remotely Sensed Passive Microwave Sea Surface Temperature
Abstract High‐resolution sea surface temperature (SST) is essential for weather forecasting and climate applications. Passive microwave (MW) SST offers largely cloud‐penetrating coverage but is coarse and spatially smoothed, whereas infrared (IR) SST resolves fine‐scale structures but is frequently cloud‐obscured.
