Intrinsically Design‐Rule‐Compliant Nanophotonic Inverse Design via Learned Generative Manifolds

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A generative reparameterization framework for nanophotonic inverse design is introduced, restricting optimization to a learned manifold of design‐rule‐compliant geometries. Unlike conventional penalty‐based approaches, fabrication constraints are encoded intrinsically within the design representation.

Amenability Constants for Unconditional Sums of Banach Algebras

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We study Johnson amenability for unconditional direct sums of Banach algebras. Given a family (Ai)i∈I$(A_i)_{i\in I}$ of Banach algebras and a Banach sequence lattice E$E$ on I$I$, the E$E$‐sum ⨁i∈IAiE${\bigl (\bigoplus _{i\in I} A_i\bigr)}_{\!E}$ carries a natural Banach algebra structure via coordinatewise multiplication.

S-ITERATION PROCESS FOR ASYMPTOTIC POINTWISE NONEXPANSIVE MAPPINGS IN COMPLETE HYPERBOLIC METRIC SPACES

open access: yesCommunications of the Korean Mathematical Society, 2016
In this paper, we study the modified S-iteration process for asymptotic pointwise nonexpansive mappings in a uniformly convex hyperbolic metric space. We then prove the convergence of the sequence generated by the modified S-iteration process.

Improving Fetal Single‐Voxel Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy With Spectral Registration

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate whether spectral registration improves spectral quality and quantification reliability in in vivo single‐voxel fetal brain MRS: Methods Fourteen fetal PRESS datasets were acquired at 3 T at TE = 35 ms and TE = 135 ms. Raw data were processed with eddy‐current phase correction, coil combination, spectral registration, and ...

Approximate Reachability for Feedback Linearizable Systems

open access: yesOptimal Control Applications and Methods, EarlyView.
The backwards reachable set for a dynamical system is the set of states for which there exists a constraint admissible trajectory that reaches a given terminal set. Conventional grid‐based approaches for computing these sets are intractable for many applications.

Asymmetric transferability of trait–environment relationships between native and exotic plant species in Singaporean forests differing in land‐use history

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Functional traits allow ecologists to synthesise general rules of community assembly. In joint species distribution modelling, traits are increasingly used to explain species–environment relationships, with the intention of being able to generalise predictions to other species in other systems.

Pointwise Completeness and Pointwise Degeneracy of Descriptor Linear Discrete-Time Systems with Different Fractional Orders

open access: yesActa Mechanica et Automatica
Abstract The solution to the system of equations of the descriptor linear discrete-time with different fractional orders is derived by the use of the Drazin inverse of matrices. This solution is applied to analysis of the pointwise completeness and the pointwise degeneracy of the descriptor discrete-time linear systems with different ...

Pointwise Weyl Laws for Quantum Completely Integrable Systems

open access: yes
The study of the asymptotics of the spectral function for self-adjoint, elliptic differential, or more generally pseudodifferential, operators on a compact manifold has a long history. The seminal 1968 paper of Hörmander, following important prior contributions by Gärding, Levitan, Avakumović, and Agmon-Kannai (to name only some), obtained pointwise ...

Hybrid physics–data‐driven modeling for sea ice thermodynamics and transfer learning

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Icepack–NN, a machine‐learning‐based hybrid version of the sea‐ice column model Icepack, is developed to correct state‐dependent forecast errors arising from misspecified snow thermodynamics, using neural networks applied online within the physical model.

Pointwise Circumscription is Equivalent to Predicate Completion (Sometimes).

open access: yes, 1988
Two ways of minimizing positive information are predicate completion, which comes from logic programming theory, and circumscription, which is one of the best known methods of non-monotonic reasoning. Here, it is shown that, under certain hypothesis, there is equivalence between predicate completion and a special kind of circumscription.
