We present a new experimental set-up that creates a shear flow with zero mean advection velocity achieved by counterbalancing the nonzero streamwise pressure gradient by moving boundaries, which generates plane Couette-Poiseuille flow.

Reconfigurable Acoustofluidic Microvortices for Selective Microcargo Delivery
This work introduces a frequency‐encoded, reconfigurable acoustofluidic system that overcomes the low throughput and poor selectivity of conventional micro‐delivery methods. By exploiting discrete microbubble resonances to program adaptive microvortex modes, the platform enables real‐time switching and selective guidance of microscale payloads through ...

Second-order response matrix solution for 1D Poiseuille plane-channel flow
With increasing miniaturization of diagnostic medical devices for more effective detection of blood-borne pathogens, Poiseuille molecular flow in microchannels has become increasingly important in medical device design.

Caribbean plate tilted and actively dragged eastwards by low-viscosity asthenospheric flow
Here, the authors follow a new approach using analytic solutions for Poiseuille-Couette channel flow to compute asthenospheric viscosities under the Caribbean.

Non-Newtonian Couette-Poiseuille flow of a dilute gas
The steady state of a dilute gas enclosed between two infinite parallel plates in relative motion and under the action of a uniform body force parallel to the plates is considered.

Modal and nonmodal stability analysis of electrohydrodynamic flow with and without cross-flow [PDF]
We report the results of a complete modal and nonmodal linear stability analysis of the electrohydrodynamic flow (EHD) for the problem of electroconvection in the strong injection region.

Experimental methods for wind tunnel studies of seed dispersal by wind
Abstract The complexity and variability of natural environments make quantitative studies of seed wind dispersal challenging. Wind tunnel experiments offer a controlled alternative to investigate the mechanisms of seed wind dispersal. This review focuses on wind tunnels and the associated technologies used for studying seed wind dispersal, including ...

Effects of Poiseuille flow on peristaltic transport
The effects of Poiseuille flow on peristaltic transport in a cylindrical tube has been investigated. A perturbation solution is obtained, which satisfies the momentum equation for the case in which the amplitude ratio (wave amplitude/tube radius) is ...

Exploiting timescale separation in micro and nano flows [PDF]
In this paper we describe how timescale separation in micro/nano flows can be exploited for computational acceleration. A modified version of the seamless heterogenous multiscale method (SHMM) is proposed: a multi-step SHMM.

The impact of forced closure on proppant distribution of hydraulic fracturing in shale formations
Research findings demonstrate that implementing forced closure within shale formations can remarkably mitigate proppant settlement, concurrently increasing the effective propped surface area from 29.74% to 38.68%. Abstract Forced closure is widely used in conventional oil and gas reservoirs to promote uniform proppant placement.
