Synchronization‐Dissipation in the Cardiorespiratory System
By modeling central nervous coupling and viscoelastic interactions in the cardiorespiratory system we show that synchronization produces a 10% gain in cardiac efficiency in humans. It is surmised that respiratory sinus arrhythmia improves cardiac pumping efficiency by reducing dynamic stress and power dissipation in the pulmonary vasculature.

Levitating spherical particle in a slightly tapered tube at low Reynolds numbers: Application to the low-flow rate rotameters [PDF]
In this study, a theoretical framework is developed to predict the equilibrium conditions of a non-neutrally buoyant sphere placed in a vertical conical tube as encountered in liquid rotameters.

Efficient Adsorption‐Based Direct Air Capture Via Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Architectures
Architected triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) contactors reshape direct air capture by replacing straight‐channel diffusion limits with convection‐enhanced CO2 transport. Chaotic advection thins boundary layers and exposes fast adsorption sites, enabling 70%–75% more fast sites, 114% higher productivity, and 51.8% lower energy consumption than ...

CALB2 is a Mechanoresistance Gene in Metastatic Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer cell lines of differing origins were cultured over many passages while being subjected to semi‐lethal levels of fluid shear stress, representing the harsh mechanical environment these cells are subjected to in the circulation during the process of distant metastasis.

Instability of Poiseuille flow in a fluid overlying a glass bead packed porous layer [PDF]
The instability of Poiseuille flow in a fluid overlying a glass bead packed porous layer saturated with the same fluid is studied. A three layer configuration is adopted, where a variable effective viscosity is modelled between the outer fluid and porous

Image registration algorithm for molecular tagging velocimetry applied to unsteady flow in Hele-Shaw cell [PDF]
In order to develop velocimetry methods for confined geometries, we propose to combine image registration and volumetric reconstruction from a monocular video of the draining of a Hele-Shaw cell filled with water.
