Toward Complete CO2 Electroconversion: Status, Challenges, and Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Electrocatalytic CO2 reduction and CO2 batteries face challenges in achieving complete CO2 conversion with high conversion rates and Faradaic efficiency simultaneously. Existing systems compromise one for the other with incomplete CO2 conversion and inefficiencies, hindering practical applications. This perspective highlights state‐of‐the‐art progress,

Molecular Bottom‐Up Design of Single‐Site Copper‐Palladium Catalysts for Selective Glycerol Electro‐Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A bimetallic Cu‐Pd single‐site catalyst for the selective and efficient electrooxidation of glycerol to formate and C3‐products (lactate, glycolate, glycerate) is reported. Experimental and theoretical studies shed light on the catalyst function and reveal that Pd sites facilitate the adsorption of hydroxyl (C‐OH) species which prevents C‐C bond ...

Engineering Fluoroacetate Dehalogenase by Growth‐Based Selections on Non‐Natural Organofluorides

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We present a high‐throughput selection system to engineer fluoroacetate dehalogenases (FAcDs). By challenging E. coli populations that produce diverse FAcD libraries to grow on non‐natural organofluorides as their sole carbon source, we isolated a panel of FAcD variants with improved activity and altered substrate specificity.

Hierarchical Fluorinated Polymer Separator Design Mitigating Bilateral Ionic Crosstalk in Aqueous Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Aqueous zinc‐ion batteries suffer from rapid decay under practical conditions due to bilateral Zn2+/Mn2+ ionic crosstalk, a system‐level failure mechanism. We develop a hierarchical fluorinated polymer separator that regulates ion fluxes and stabilizes both electrodes simultaneously. This strategy enables extended cycle life while maintaining capacity,
