Local Coordination‐Dependent CO2 Reduction Activity of Bimetallic Cu─Al Catalysts for Selective Ethylene/Ethanol Electrosynthesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
While bimetallic catalysts enhance C2+ yield, product selectivity remains elusive. We demonstrate that atomic coordination governs the bifurcation at the *CHCOH intermediate: Cu/CuAlO2 interface‐rich catalyst cleaves C–O to favor ethylene, whereas Al‐doped Cu catalyst breaks Cu–C to boost ethanol.

Bench‐Stable Boryl Thianthrenium Dication Enables Aziridinyl Boronate Synthesis via Metal‐Free Late‐Stage Aziridination with Diverse Nitrogen Nucleophiles

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A bench‐stable boryl thianthrenium dication is synthesized via thianthrenation of vinyl MIDA boronate. This novel dication enables metal‐free, chemo‐, and diastereoselective late‐stage aziridination with diverse nitrogen nucleophiles. The strategic significance is further showcased by one‐pot electrochemical and asymmetric protocols and versatile ...

From CO2 to C1 Liquid Fuels: Molecular Electrochemical Production of Formic Acid and Methanol

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Sustainable transformation of CO2 into formic acid and methanol is key to circular carbon economies and sustainable energy. These liquid C1 products are high in energy density, easy to store, and serve as hydrogen carriers and feedstocks. Electrochemical CO2 reduction provides a promising route for carbon recycling and renewable energy integration ...
