Effects of Liposome Composition and Size on Protein Corona Formation: Competitive Replacement of Abundant Proteins by High‐Affinity Proteins on the Liposome Surface

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained MD simulations capture the effects of liposome composition and size on protein adsorption onto the liposome surface, in agreement with experiments. Liposome‐protein interactions are energetically stabilized by the replacement of abundant proteins with high‐affinity proteins on the liposome surface through electrostatic and hydrophobic ...

DYNAMIC CRUSHING OF HONEYCOMBS WITH A NEGATIVE POISSON’S RATIO—A FINITE ELEMENT STUDY

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2016
The deformation modes and energy absorption properties of honeycombs with a negative Poisson’s ratio under inplane dynamic crushing were studied by means of finite element simulation in this paper.

Observations of how boundary conditions affect estimates of Poisson's ratio from simulated mode shapes

open access: yesMaterials & Design
This research extends a method for direct estimation of Poisson's ratio from mode shapes of plates with hinged-hinged boundary conditions to include combinations of clamped and free boundary conditions.

Three-dimensional elasticity solution of an infinite plate with a circular hole [PDF]

open access: yes
The elasticity problem for a thick plate with a circular hole is formulated in a systematic fashion by using the z-component of the Galerkin vector and that of Muki's harmonic vector function. The problem was originally solved by Alblas.

Engineered Protein‐Based Ionic Conductors for Sustainable Energy Storage Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rational incorporation of charged residues into an engineered, self‐assembling protein scaffold yields solid‐state protein films with outstanding ionic conductivity. Salt‐doping further enhances conductivity, an effect amplified in the engineered variants. These properties enable the material integration into an efficient supercapacitor.

New zero Poisson's ratio models

open access: yes, 2019
Most materials exhibit positive Poisson's ratio (PR) values but special structures can also present negative and, even rarer, zero (or close to zero) PR. Null PR structures have received much attention due to their unusual properties and potential applications in different fields, such as aeronautics and bio-engineering.

Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy in Bionanotechnology: Current Advances and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) enables the nanoscale mapping of electrostatic surface potentials. While widely applied in materials science, its use in biological systems remains emerging. This review presents recent advances in KPFM applied to biological samples and provides a critical perspective on current limitations and future directions for

Reservoir Characterization Based on Bayesian Amplitude Versus Offset Inversion of Marine Seismic Data

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio are critical parameters for reservoir characterization using marine seismic data. Conventional amplitude versus offset (AVO) inversion methods often assume a constant S-to-P wave velocity ratio to simplify the ...
