Bounds in poisson approximation for random sums of Bernoulli random variables
Let X[subscript n] be a sequence of Bernoulli random variables and a positive integer-valued random variable. Define S[subscript N] = X₁ +X₂ +… X [subscript n]) be random sums. Assume N, X₁, X₂, … are independent. In this thesis, we establish uniform and

Peptide Sequencing With Single Acid Resolution Using a Sub‐Nanometer Diameter Pore
To sequence a single molecule of Aβ1−42–sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), the aggregate is forced through a sub‐nanopore 0.4 nm in diameter spanning a 4.0 nm thick membrane. The figure is a visual molecular dynamics (VMD) snapshot depicting the translocation of Aβ1−42–SDS through the pore; only the peptide, the SDS, the Na+ (yellow/green) and Cl− (cyan ...

Generating Cell Surface Nucleated Hydrogels with an Artificial Membrane‐Binding Transglutaminase
Cell‐based therapies require advanced strategies to enhance cell delivery and bioactivity. Cell membrane engineering offers an avenue to impart new functions to delivered cells to boost their viability and function. Here, an artificial membrane‐binding transglutaminase is generated and biophysically characterized.

A Tracer Diffusion Study of Diverse Photo‐Ionic Phenomena in Strontium Titanate
Two strong interfacial photo‐ionic effects are demonstrated for the model system SrTiO3 through the application of isotope exchange experiments: UV illumination is found to enhance the oxygen surface exchange coefficient by several orders of magnitude and to depress the surface space‐charge potential substantially.

Anomalous Stiffening of a Conjugated Polymer During Electrochemical Oxidation
The electromechanical response of a thienothiophene‐based conjugated polymer with triethylene glycol side chains is investigated. Electrochemical nanoindentation and atomic force microscopy reveal a modest and reversible increase in elastic modulus at room temperature upon electrochemical oxidation.

Selection Strategies for Flexible Pressure Sensor Electrode Materials Toward Ultrafast Response
This study reveals, for the first time, how the electrode–organic interface governs the temporal performance of flexible pressure sensors. By pairing high‐conductivity CVD PEDOT with commonly used metal electrodes, the authors demonstrate that interfacial energy alignment dictates microsecond‐scale response, providing a straightforward design strategy ...

A General Poisson Approximation Theorem
A sum of nonnegative integer-valued random variables may be treated as a Poisson variable if the summands have sufficiently high probabilities of taking 0 value and sufficiently weak mutual dependence. This paper presents simple exact upper bounds for the error of such an approximation.

The ultrahard teeth of mollusks that feed on rocky substrates contain a wear‐resistant coating on their surfaces consisting of densely packed mesocrystalline magnetic nanoparticles within an organic matrix. These coatings display significant hardness and toughness through their highly controlled mesocrystalline architectures.

Poisson brackets, quasi-states and symplectic integrators [PDF]
This paper is a fusion of a survey and a research article. We focus on certain rigidity phenomena in function spaces associated to a symplectic manifold.
