Effect of variable relative permittivity on the thermodynamics of asymmetric valency aqueous salts

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics
Experimentally determined empirical formulae for the concentration dependent relative permittivity of aqueous solutions of MgCl2 and NiCl2 are utilized to calculate the osmotic coefficient and the mean activity coefficient of these salts for a range of ...

Approximation of the classes $W^{r}_{\beta,\infty}$ by three-harmonic Poisson integrals

open access: yesKarpatsʹkì Matematičnì Publìkacìï, 2019
In the paper, we solve one extremal problem of the theory of approximation of functional classes by linear methods. Namely, questions are investigated concerning the approximation of classes of differentiable functions by $\lambda$-methods of summation ...

Design and Prototyping of Topology‐Optimized, Additively Manufactured Lightweight Components for Space Robotic Systems: A Case Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The results demonstrate a simulation‐driven workflow that applies LSB topology optimization with additive manufacturing constraints to mission‐specific load cases, integrating European Cooperation for Space Standardization compliant verification and manufacturability to develop structurally efficient rover suspension components.

Compound Poisson approximation with association or negative association via Stein's method

open access: yes, 2013
In this note we show how the properties of association and negative association can be combined with Stein's method for compound Poisson approximation.

Compound Poisson and signed compound Poisson approximations to the Markov binomial law

open access: yes, 2010
Compound Poisson distributions and signed compound Poisson measures are used for approximation of the Markov binomial distribution. The upper and lower bound estimates are obtained for the total variation, local and Wasserstein norms.

Screen‐Printed Flexible Piezoelectric Force Sensor Array with Electromagnetic Interference Shielding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article introduces a flexible screen‐printed piezoelectric sensor array designed for low‐frequency healthcare applications such as tactile sensing and cardiovascular monitoring. The device integrates interface electronics enabling the simultaneous acquisition of up to 128 signals, along with flexible EMI shielding that significantly reduces noise ...

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

Poisson-type approximation for sums of 1-dependent indicators

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2009
The sum of 1-dependent indicators is approximated by compound Poisson type distribution. Estimates are obtained for the uniform Kolmogorov and local metrics.

A non-uniform bound on Poisson approximation for a sum of negative binomial random variables [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2017
This paper uses the Stein–Chen method to determine a non-uniform bound on the point metric between the distribution of a sum of independent negative binomial random variables and a Poisson distribution with mean 1 n i i i r q     , where r i

A Compound Poisson Approximation Inequality [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Probability, 2006
We give conditions under which the number of events which occur in a sequence ofm-dependent events is stochastically smaller than a suitably defined compound Poisson random variable. The results are applied to counts of sequence pattern appearances and to system reliability. We also provide a numerical example.
