Continuous Stiffness Graded Metal–Ceramic Femoral Stems: UMAT‐Based Design and Finite Element Assessment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Functionally graded metal–ceramic femoral stems are engineered through continuous UMAT‐based stiffness tailoring, eliminating discrete material interfaces while enhancing biomechanical compatibility. Low‐index power‐law gradation optimizes load transfer, reduces stress shielding, and controls implant–bone micromotion, highlighting a materials‐design ...

Cauchy transform and Poisson’s equation

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematics, 2012
Let $u\in W^{2,p}_0$, $1\le p\le \infty$ be a solution of the Poisson equation $Δu = h$, $h\in L^p$, in the unit disk. It is proved that $\|\nabla u\|_{L^p} \le a_p\|h\|_{L^p}$ with sharp constant $a_p$ for $p=1$ and $p=\infty$ and that $\|\partial u\|_{L^p} \le b_p\|h\|_{L^p}$ with sharp constant $b_p$ for $p=1$, $p=2$ and $p=\infty$.

Mechanical Behavior and Fracture Mechanisms of MXene/PVDF Nanocomponsites: In Situ Characterization and Multiscale Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale experiments and modeling reveal how Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets reinforce PVDF nanocomposites. An optimal MXene loading (∼1 wt.%) nearly doubles tensile strength through efficient stress transfer, flake alignment, and crack‐deflection mechanisms, transforming ductile polymer behavior into a controlled multi‐stage fracture pathway which aligns ...

Machine Learning‐Assisted Inverse Design of Soft and Multifunctional Hybrid Liquid Metal Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A machine learning framework is presented for inverse design of synthesizable multifunctional composites containing both liquid metal and solid inclusions. By integrating physics‐based modeling, data‐driven prediction, and Bayesian optimization, the approach enables intelligent design of experiments to identify optimal compositions and realize these ...

Reduction of spurious velocity in the free-energy-based lattice Boltzmann method for large density ratio

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2015
The spurious velocity around curved interface, arising from the calculation of the Poisson equation with staggered grids, is reduced in the free-energy-based two-phase flow lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for large density ratios.

Microfabricated Anisotropic Myobundles for the Scalable Production of Cardiac Tissue Grafts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the anisotropy of cardiac tissue remains an outstanding challenge in the field of cardiac tissue engineering. Here, we introduce an approach to generate anisotropic cardiac myobundles using cell‐adhesive, synthetic, electrospun fibers and stem cell‐derived cardiac fibroblasts.

A Nonlinear Differential Equation Related to the Jacobi Elliptic Functions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Differential Equations, 2012
A nonlinear differential equation for the polar angle of a point of an ellipse is derived. The solution of this differential equation can be expressed in terms of the Jacobi elliptic function dn(u,k).
