Ionic‐Electronic Hydrogel‐Liquid Metal Composite Bilayer with Tissue‐Adaptive and Adhesive Properties for Closed‐Loop Neuroprosthetic System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel–liquid metal composite peripheral nerve interface (HLB‐PNI) combines electrically durable electrodes and tissue‐adhesive hydrogel for tissue‐adaptive implantation. In nerve‐injured rats, it enables the diagnosis of sensory‐motor connectivity via stimulation and neural signal recording.

L\'evy processes with marked jumps II : Application to a population model with mutations at birth

open access: yes, 2013
Consider a population where individuals give birth at constant rate during their lifetimes to i.i.d. copies of themselves. Individuals bear clonally inherited types, but (neutral) mutations may happen at the birth events.

Switchable Supramolecular Adhesive by Tuning Interfacial Bonding and Modulus

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The supramolecular adhesive (HyDiP) shows reversible adhesion and recyclability. In the dehydrated state, it is dense, stiff (E ≈445 MPa), transparent, and provides strong bonding with adhesion strengths up to 4.65 MPa. In the hydrated state, it becomes porous, soft (E ≈0.11 MPa), and detaches easily, enabling sustainable high‐strength applications ...

Betti number signatures of homogeneous Poisson point processes [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2006
The Betti numbers are fundamental topological quantities that describe the k-dimensional connectivity of an object: B_0 is the number of connected components and B_k effectively counts the number of k-dimensional holes. Although they are appealing natural descriptors of shape, the higher-order Betti numbers are more difficult to compute than other ...

High Entropy Wide‐Bandgap Borates with Broadband Luminescence and Large Nonlinear Optical properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy rare‐earth borates exhibit excellent nonlinear optical and broadband luminescence properties arising from multi‐component doping, chemical disorder, increased configurational entropy, and increased lattice and electronic anharmonicity. This formulation enabled us to obtain a large, environmentally stable single crystal with 3X higher laser‐

A New Estimator Based on Likelihood Function for Drift Time of Change in Poisson Rate Parameter [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Research in Industrial Engineering, 2014
Although a control chart can signal an out-of-control state in a process, but it does not always indicate when the process change has begun. Identifying the real time of the change in the process, called the change point, is very important for ...

On the classification problem for Poisson point processes

open access: yesJournal of Multivariate Analysis, 2017
We study the binary classification problem for Poisson point processes, which are allowed to take values in a general metric space. The problem is tackled in two different ways: estimating nonparametricaly the intensity functions of the processes (and then plugged into a deterministic formula which expresses the regression function in terms of the ...
