Properties of multidimensional Poisson point processes (PPPs) are discussed using a constructive approach readily accessible to a broad audience. The processes are defined in terms of a two-step simulation procedure, and their fundamental properties are derived from the simulation.

In this chapter we review the notion of a Poisson point process on a measurable space as well as some basic operations (coloring, mapping, thinning) that we will need for the construction of the random interlacement point process and in the study of its properties. First we recall some well-known facts about the Poisson distribution.

On Some Applications of Poisson Point Processes
Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2012Poisson point processes play important role in various domains of Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics. In this article, we investigate only two applications of Poisson point processes: a generated white noise problem and parameters estimation problem. This work continues the investigations started in paper Egorov and Kondybaev (2009).
