Simulating the tail of the interference in a Poisson network model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Interference among simultaneous transmissions represents the main limitation factor for the capacity and connectivity of dense wireless networks. In this paper we provide efficient simulation laws for the tail of the interference in a simple wireless ad ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Deterministic walk on Poisson point process

open access: yesESAIM: Proceedings and Surveys, 2017
A deterministic walk on a Poisson point process in Rd is an oriented graph where each point of the process is connected to only one other point following a deterministic and stationary rule of connection.

Use of cumulative sums for detection of changepoints in the rate parameter of a poisson process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This paper studies the problem of multiple changepoints in rate parameter of a Poisson process. We propose a binary segmentation algorithm in conjunction with a cumulative sums statistic for detection of changepoints such that in each step we need only ...

Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

Some Compound Fractional Poisson Processes

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2022
In this paper, we introduce and study fractional versions of the Bell–Touchard process, the Poisson-logarithmic process and the generalized Pólya–Aeppli process.

A Prospective Study of Individuals at Risk of Multiple Sclerosis Informs the Design of Primary Prevention Studies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In multiple sclerosis, the optimal time for deploying a therapeutic intervention is before the central nervous system is damaged; given the success of trials treating the earliest stage of MS, the radiologically isolated syndrome, developing primary prevention strategies is an important next challenge.

Hedges and Trees: Incorporating Fire Risk into Optimal Decisions in Forestry Using a No-Arbitrage Approach

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, 2007
This paper investigates the impact of including the risk of fire in an optimal tree harvesting model at the stand level, assuming timber prices follow a mean-reverting stochastic process.

Continental moisture recycling as a Poisson process [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2013
On their journey over large land masses, water molecules experience a number of precipitation–evaporation cycles (recycling events). We derive analytically the frequency distributions of recycling events for the water molecules contained in a given ...
