TanDEM-X Pol-InSAR Performance for Forest Height Estimation

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2014
TanDEM-X and TerraSAR-X platforms form together the first spaceborne single-pass polarimetric interferometer in space. This allows, for the first time, the acquisition of spaceborne polarimetric synthetic aperture radar interferometry (Pol-InSAR) data without the disturbing effect of temporal decorrelation.

Bistatic Pol-InSAR Scenario and Evaluation by Forest Scattering Simulations

IGARSS 2008 - 2008 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2008
This paper comes within the context of exploring the potential of bistatic Pol-InSAR. Numerical simulations are carried out by means of MIPERS, multistatic interferometric polarimetric electromagnetic model for remote sensing which has already proved many abilities.

Multi-baseline POL-inSAR statistical techniques for the characterization of distributed media

2009 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2009
This paper presents principles and robust techniques to estimate physical parameters of natural environments using Multi-Baseline Polarimetric and Interferometric SAR (MB-POL-inSAR) data. The first part of this paper concerns the abstract topic of MB-POL-inSAR coherence optimization The second part is dedicated to the general estimation of the ...

Pol-InSAR Results from ALOS-PalSAR

2007 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2007
The launch of JAXA's ALOS in January 2006 provides - for the fist time since the SIR-C/X-SAR mission's in the 80's - the opportunity to acquire Pol-InSAR data from space. Indeed, PalSAR (i.e. the SAR instrument onboard of ALOS) is able to operate in a quad-pol mode - declared by JAXA as an "experimental mode" - that allows the acquisition of Pol-InSAR ...

Pol-InSAR for agricultural vegetation parameter estimation

IEEE International IEEE International IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2004. IGARSS '04. Proceedings. 2004, 2004
The quantitative bio/geo physical agricultural and land-use parameter estimation has attained significant prominence as it is a challenge to quantify complex and fast changing media in terms of geometry and material properties. In this work the behavior of agricultural vegetation in terms of polarimetric interferometric SAR (Pol-InSAR) observables is ...

Sensitivity of Pol-InSAR Measurements to Vegetation Parameters

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2015
Estimation of forest height from combined polarimetric and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (Pol-InSAR) measurements has been the focus of radar remote sensing studies in the past decade. The simplicity of the random-volume-over-ground (RVoG) model makes it one of the most widely used candidates for estimating canopy height.

Polarimetric Scattering Model Decomposition for Pol-InSAR Data

IGARSS 2008 - 2008 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2008
This paper presents scattering model decomposition technique with Pol-InSAR datasets. The target model decomposition based on the scattering mechanisms corresponding to surface, double, and volume scattering, is one of the powerful tools to analyze and classify the ground surface conditions with fully polarimetric SAR data.

Scattering component decomposition for POL-InSAR dataset and its applications

2009 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2009
The three-component scattering model decomposition based on the scattering mechanisms corresponding to single-bounce, double-bounce, and volume scattering, is one of the powerful tools to classify terrain for fully polarimetric SAR data. However, the conventional scattering component decomposition technique with POLSAR image requires several ...

On the estimation of agricultural crop height from Pol-InSAR data

2015 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2015
This work investigates the potential of single and dual-baseline Pol-InSAR acquisitions for crop height estimation. A performance comparison is carried out between the single-baseline 3-stage approach and a dual-baseline Oriented Volume over Ground (OVoG) inversion scheme.

Early Results using Single-Pass L-band Pol-InSAR

IGARSS 2008 - 2008 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2008
The extraction of bio-and geophysical parameters by means of Pol-InSAR has gained a lot of interest in recent years. In particular, the exploitation of full quad-pol mode long wave-length (L-and P-band) data in combination with advanced theoretical models like the Random-Volume-over-Ground (RVoG) model has successfully been used to derive quantities ...
