Shock‐Induced Polarization of Materials
Combustion, Explosion and Shock Waves, 2004A new computational method of calculating signals of shock‐induced electric polarization of materials is proposed and used to analyze previous experimental results on the shock‐induced electric polarization of Plexiglas. Experimental results on the shock‐induced electric polarization of granite are presented.

On boundary conditions for polar materials
Zeitschrift für angewandte Mathematik und Physik ZAMP, 1977We discuss some restrictions on boundary conditions in continuum mechanics arising from the requirement that the basic balance laws, invariance conditions and entropy inequality must hold for the material outside of the bounding surface. We illustrate our assertions for polar materials, but the ideas we use are applicable to all continuum theories.

Polarization current in fluoropolymer materials
Proceedings of 1995 Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2002Studies on Thermally Stimulated Polarization Currents (TSPC) in fluoropolymer films are presented in this paper. The influences of poling field, heating rate and electrode material on TSPC are investigated. Results show that higher poling fields yield higher currents.

Conduction polarization in solid materials
Journal of Materials Science Letters, 1984The thermally stimulated polarization/depolarization current technique (abbreviated as TSPC/ TSDC) [1] is a useful tool for studying charge carrier motion in vitreous and crystalline solids. Recent works on alkali-containing oxide glasses [2-4] revealed the existence of three different polarizations named P1, P2, and P3 in the order of increasing peak ...

Polarization imaging for material classification
Optical Engineering, 2008A simple and stable method is proposed for distinguishing dielectric and metal material surfaces from the polarization images captured by a vision system consisting of a linear polarizer and a digital camera. The polarization state is determined by the transmitted light intensity through the polarizer as a function of polarizing orientation. The degree

Dielectric response of polar materials
IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation, 1990The proposed approach is based on the unique property that the ratio of the real to the imaginary parts of the susceptibility or of the polarization decrement are independent of frequency in the respective frequency ranges. The resulting energy criterion is discussed, and a screened polarization model and mechanical relaxation model are developed and ...
