Polarimetric imaging of biological tissues based on the indices of polarimetric purity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, 2017
We highlight the interest of using the indices of polarimetric purity (IPPs) to the inspection of biological tissues. The IPPs were recently proposed in the literature and they result in a further synthetization of the depolarizing properties of samples.

Performance of Reduced Polarimetric Optical Switching Demodulation Technique in Different Spatio-Temporal Polarization Modulation Schemes

open access: yesUniverse
The beam exchange is a classical supplementary technique for spatio-temporal modulation in a dual-beam setup. In order to save time, the reduced polarimetric-optical-switching (RPOS) technique was propsed as an alternative technique.

Simulation and Analysis of the Fully Polarimetric Scattering Characteristics of Aircraft in UHF Band

open access: yesLeida xuebao, 2016
This study is based on the application requirements of fully polarimetric radar for aircraft detection and target recognition. We focus on fully polarimetric scattering characteristics of air targets, particularly the cross-polarimetric scattering ...

Achromatizing a liquid-crystal spectropolarimeter: Retardance vs Stokes-based calibration of HiVIS

open access: yes, 2010
Astronomical spectropolarimeters can be subject to many sources of systematic error which limit the precision and accuracy of the instrument. We present a calibration method for observing high-resolution polarized spectra using chromatic liquid-crystal ...

Polarimetry microlensing of close-in planetary systems

open access: yes, 2017
A close-in giant planetary (CGP) system has a net polarization signal whose value varies depending on the orbital phase of the planet. This polarization signal is either caused by the stellar occultation or by reflected starlight from the surface of the ...

Linear polarization of rapidly rotating ultracool dwarfs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Aims. We aim at studying the near infrared linear polarization signal of rapidly rotating ultracool dwarfs with spectral types ranging from M7 through T2 and projected rotational velocities vsini >= 30 km s^{-1}.

Bio‐inspired nanophotonics: Structural color, chirality, and resonance metasurfaces

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
A butterfly‐wing‐inspired anisotropic plasmonic flatband resonant metasurface. Insets, photo of the butterfly, Sasakia charonda, and the SEM image of its wing scale (above); the SEM image of the metasurface (below). Abstract The dazzling colors of butterfly wings and hummingbird feathers are not painted with pigments, but crafted by nature's invisible ...

Unstable Slope Identification and Monitoring Using Polarization-Enhanced DS-InSAR: A Case Study in the Bailong River Basin

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Interferometry synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) technology has been widely applied to the identification and monitoring of unstable slopes. Recent studies have demonstrated that polarization information can enhance the quality of interferometric phase ...

Frozen Differential Scattering in Reconfigurable Complex Media

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 11, 5 June 2026.
A localized perturbation universally results in a rank‐one update of the scattering matrix of any complex medium. The resulting differential output wavefront is “frozen”: its spatial pattern is fixed (agnostic to the input wavefront). Experiments with a programmable‐metasurface‐parametrized wireless link validate frozen differential scattering and ...
