UAVSAR Polarimetric Calibration

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2015
Uninhabited aerial vehicle synthetic aperture radar (UAVSAR) is a reconfigurable polarimetric L-band SAR that operates in quad-polarization mode and is specifically designed to acquire airborne repeat-track SAR data for interferometric measurements. In this paper, we present details of the UAVSAR radar performance, the radiometric calibration, and the ...

Polarimetric calibration of angles

Measurement Science and Technology, 2003
This paper describes a method for calibrating the angles of transparent prism-type optical elements. The optical system used is a manual null polarimeter. The angle of incidence, which is a sensitive parameter in polarimetric and ellipsometric measurements, is first calibrated using the same arrangement. The accuracy of the method is ± 0.004°.

Fully polarimetric calibration system for HUT polarimetric radiometer

IGARSS 2000. IEEE 2000 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. Taking the Pulse of the Planet: The Role of Remote Sensing in Managing the Environment. Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37120), 2002
The fully polarimetric calibration system for HUT polarimetric radiometer is described. The system generates adjustable reference brightness temperatures for all four Stokes parameters. The available calibration time varies from 10 to 20 minutes depending on the desired accuracy.

Dynamic polarimetric calibration using a single dual-polarized antenna polarimetric active radar calibrator

IET International Radar Conference 2013, 2013
This paper designs a single rotatable dual-polarized antenna polarimetric active radar calibrator (PARC) and proposes a corresponding dynamic calibration polarimetric (DPC) method. The novel PARC simplifies the system equipment and optimises the antenna's pattern.

Calibration of bistatic polarimetric scatterometers

IGARSS '96. 1996 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2002
The recent interest in bistatic and multistatic radar has led to a need for information concerning the bistatic reflectivity of clutter viewed by such systems. Unfortunately, little information is available describing calibration for a bistatic radar system. This paper presents a new calibration technique for bistatic scatterometers.

Polarimetric calibration for RADARSAT-2

IGARSS 2000. IEEE 2000 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. Taking the Pulse of the Planet: The Role of Remote Sensing in Managing the Environment. Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37120), 2002
The RADARSAT-2 SAR currently under development will be required to operate in many modes, including a fully polarimetric mode with at least 30 beams. An efficient means for achieving and maintaining polarimetric calibration of these beams is needed, and the paper describes the work that has been performed to define and validate a method based on ...

Phase Calibration Of Polarimetric SAR

International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 'Remote Sensing: Moving Toward the 21st Century'., 2005
Techniques were developed to measure the phase characteristics of a polarimetric imaging synthetic aperture radar (SAR). portion of the radar signature from an airborne, polarimetric SAR system, targets (dihedral and trihedral corner reflectors) with known characteristics were deployed, and several passes of polarimetric data collected.

Polarimetric phased array weather radar: Concepts for polarimetric calibration

2010 IEEE International Symposium on Phased Array Systems and Technology, 2010
The National Severe Storms Laboratory (NOAA-NSSL) and the Advanced Radar Research Center at the University of Oklahoma (OU-ARRC) are presently involved in the design, development and construction of a cylindrical polarimetric phased array radar (CPPAR) to demonstrate polarimetric capabilities for weather sensing within the Multi-function Phased Array ...

Polarimetric UHF Calibration for SETHI

PIERS Online, 2010
The SETHI sensor from ONERA is an airborne radar equipped with difierent bands (UHF-VHF, L, X) on a Falcon 20. The UHF-VHF band is fully polarimetric and can operate between 225MHz up to 460MHz. In August 2009, this system was used in French Guiana for the TROPISAR experiment. Data were acquired from 0 - incidence angle up to 65 - incidence angle and a

Simulated Calibrators Based Polarimetric Weather Radar External Calibration

2020 13th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, BioMedical Engineering and Informatics (CISP-BMEI), 2020
As a potential tool for atmospheric observation, weather radar has shown good performance in providing abundant meteorological data during a short time. The key to use weather radar is that the collected data should have sufficient accuracy. To achieve this purpose, weather radar external calibration technique is proposed and applied for practical data
