Abstract Because of the remote nature of permafrost, it is difficult to collect data over large geographic regions using ground surveys. Remote sensing enables us to study permafrost at high resolution and over large areas. The Arctic‐Boreal Vulnerability Experiment's Permafrost Dynamics Observatory (PDO) contains data about permafrost subsidence ...

Abstract In response to the 2017 Decadal Survey, NASA conducted a five‐year study on the Surface Deformation and Change (SDC) designated observable to study potential mission concepts. As part of the SDC mission study, the Commercial Synthetic Aperture Radar (ComSAR) subgroup was tasked with evaluating the current landscape of the SAR and ...

Soil moisture retrieval under wheat crop using RISAT-1 hybrid polarimetric SAR data
The study aims to retrieve soil moisture from RISAT-1 hybrid polarimetric SAR data. Although the use of linear polarimetric SAR data has been well understood and documented, but hybrid polarimetric SAR data is grossly under explored and under reported ...

Ionospheric Faraday Rotation Angle Estimation for Bistatic Spaceborne SAR
This paper proposes a Faraday rotation angle estimation method for bistatic spaceborne SAR. The effectiveness of the method is verified through simulation experiments and the performance of the method is analysed. Under different SNR and filtering window sizes, the estimation error range is 0.02°–0.26°. ABSTRACT Bistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR)

We designed a distributed UAV swarm SAR observation architecture that deploys multiple UAV‐borne SAR systems in the three‐dimensional space around the target scene. Each node operates in a monostatic mode, which not only reduces synchronization requirements but also provides robustness against single‐node failure.

Detecting flying objects in synthetic aperture radar images using Moving Target Indicator methods
This paper presents a moving target indicator detection method (MTI) for detecting planes during take‐off in synthetic aperture radar data, and a theoretical ground‐clutter suppression method via cross‐track interferometry to detect airborne targets. The MTI method combines interferometric processing, acceleration compensation, and autofocus techniques.
