Investigating the Properties of the Relativistic Jet and Hot Corona in AGN with X-ray Polarimetry

open access: yesGalaxies
X-ray polarimetry has been suggested as a prominent tool for investigating the geometrical and physical properties of the emissions from active galactic nuclei (AGN).

The Growth of Interest in Astronomical X-Ray Polarimetry

open access: yesGalaxies, 2018
Astronomical X-ray polarimetry was first explored in the end of the 1960s by pioneering rocket instruments. The craze arising from the first discoveries of stellar and supernova remnant X-ray polarization led to the addition of X-ray polarimeters to ...

Revealing the Hidden Stress Field and Its Thermal Input Dependence in Femtosecond Laser–Processed Silicon Photonic Chip Substrates via Weak Measurement

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 13, 13 July 2026.
A novel noncontact method based on weak value amplification enables high‐sensitivity stress mapping of femtosecond laser processed silicon photonic chip substrates. It converts microscale stress into the birefringent phase via the photoelastic effect and reads it out with weak measurement, achieving a 0.37‐kPa detection limit.

An Assessment of Simulated Compact Polarimetric SAR Data for Wetland Classification Using Random Forest Algorithm

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Remote Sensing, 2017
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) compact polarimetry (CP) systems are of great interest for large area monitoring because of their ability to acquire data in a wider swath compared to full polarimetry (FP) systems and a significant improvement in ...

Enantioselective Separation and Negative Transport of Chiral Particles via Optical Needle Fields

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 13, 13 July 2026.
This work proposes an all‐optical strategy that leverages a tailored optical needle field for the enantioselective separation and 3D manipulation of chiral particles. By introducing phase modulation, we engineer a dual‐needle configuration capable of spatially separating and negatively transporting both enantiomers within a single system, offering a ...

Polarimeters for the Detection of Anisotropy from Reflectance

open access: yesMicromachines
Polarimetry is used to determine the Stokes parameters of a laser beam. Once all four S0,1,2,3 parameters are determined, the state of polarisation is established.

L-Band Polarimetric Target Decomposition of Mangroves of the Rufiji Delta, Tanzania

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2016
The mangroves of the Rufiji Delta are an important habitat and resource. The mangrove forest reserve is home to an indigenous population and has been under pressure from an influx of migrants from the landward side of the delta.

Full Vectorial Field Sensing Using Liquid Crystal Droplet Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 39, 13 July 2026.
An inkjet‐printed liquid crystal droplet array enables compact, low‐cost, single‐shot sensing of the full vectorial light field. Within a single platform, it simultaneously retrieves intensity, polarization, and phase, while dual‐wavelength operation highlights its capability for multi‐wavelength optical field characterization. ABSTRACT Determining the

Giant Chiroptical Properties in Thin Films of a Chiral Indaceno[1,2‐b:5,6‐b′]Dithiophene‐Based Organic Dye

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
A new chiral indaceno[1,2‐b:5,6‐b′]dithiophene bis‐thiophenylpropynone (IDT‐TPO) dye, which exhibits giant chiroptical properties (up to 18,000 mdeg) in drop‐casted and spin‐coated thin films upon simple aging, was deeply investigated by means of computational, microscopy, and spatially resolved chiroptical techniques.
