Design of a Bilayer Metalens for Red, Green, and Blue‐Achromatic Imaging with Wide Field of View

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Herein, an RGB‐achromatic bilayer metalens with a wide 80‐degree field‐of‐view and a high 0.65 numerical aperture is presented. Using silicon nitride meta‐atoms, it maintains consistent focal lengths for red, green, and blue light, even at oblique angles.

Thermodynamic Reversibility in Polarimetry

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
The action of linear media on incident polarized electromagnetic waves can produce two kinds of thermodynamic irreversible effects, namely, loss of intensity, in general anisotropic, and reduction of the degree of polarization. Even though both phenomena can be described through specific properties, the overall degree of reversibility of polarimetric ...

Efficient Noncollinear Second‐Harmonic Generation in Pb(In1/2Nb1/2)O3‐Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3‐PbTiO3 Crystals Through Domain‐Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a domain‐engineered PIN‐PMN‐PT ferroelectric crystal that enables efficient broadband second harmonic generation (SHG) without angle or temperature tuning. By engineering a “2T” domain structure, high SHG efficiency is achieved by noncollinear phase matching.

ALMA Polarimetry of Sgr A*: Probing the Accretion Flow from the Event Horizon to the Bondi Radius [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2018
Millimeter polarimetry of Sgr A* probes the linearly polarized emission region on a scale of ∼10 Schwarzschild radii (RS), as well as the dense, magnetized accretion flow on scales out to the Bondi radius (∼105RS) through Faraday rotation.

[HgX2] Linear Group Enabled Ultraviolet Birefringent Crystal RbHg5Br11 with Strong Optical Anisotropy and Wide Bandgap

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on the “linear‐group” design strategy, a high performance ultraviolet birefringent material RbHg5Br11 with aligned linear [HgBr2] units, demonstrating a large birefringence (Δn ≈ 0.35@546 nm); a wide optical bandgap (≈3.73 eV); as well as a good crystal growth habit; is rationally designed; and fabricated by a simple solution method.
