Polarised beams and polarised targets

1974
For the complete description of any nuclear reaction involving particles with nonzero spin, measurements of the degree of spin alignment, or change in degree of spin alignment, produced by the reaction are necessary before a complete reaction matrix can be formulated and tested.

Polarisation of prokaryotic chromosomes

Current Opinion in Microbiology, 2003
In many prokaryotes, asymmetrical mutational or selective pressures have caused compositional skews between complementary strands of replication arms, especially sensitive in the distribution of guanine and cytosine. In Escherichia coli, most of the guanine/cytosine skew is caused by mutation rates differing on leading and lagging strands, but ...

Polarisation fluoroimmunoassay of phenytoin

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1978
A polarisation fluoroimmunoassay for the determination of phenytoin levels in serum is described. Fluoresceinthiocarbamyl alpha,alpha-diphenylglycine (FTC-DPG) is used as an easily prepared fluorescent-labelled analogue of phenytoin. Interference from the non-specific binding of FTC-DPG by serum proteins is eliminated by proteolytic degradation of ...

Hours of Work Polarisation?

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2019
We investigate the relationship between hours per worker and employment polarisation. Our core question is whether hours per worker follow the same polarisation patterns as previously observed for employment, measured by either heads or total hours. Using the occupational task index measures of Acemoglu and Autor (2011), we find large relative declines

The average static dipole polarisability and polarised pseudostates for scandium

Journal of Physics B: Atomic and Molecular Physics, 1987
The average static dipole polarisability of the ground state of scandium is calculated. The polarisability is expressed in terms of the first-order correction in the wavefunction, due to the static electric dipole perturbation, which is determined variationally as a configuration interaction expansion.
