Distinct functions of three Wnt proteins control mirror-symmetric organogenesis in the C. elegans gonad

open access: yeseLife
Organogenesis requires the proper production of diverse cell types and their positioning/migration. However, the coordination of these processes during development remains poorly understood. The gonad in C.

The 22-Year Hale Cycle in Cosmic Ray Flux – Evidence for Direct Heliospheric Modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The ability to predict times of greater galactic cosmic ray (GCR) fluxes is important for reducing the hazards caused by these particles to satellite communications, aviation, or astronauts.

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

How Do Passive Margins Convert to Active Margins?

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
There has been a long debate about how passive (Atlantic‐type) margins can convert to active (Andean) margins, particularly if they can do so directly, or some other process such as an arc‐continent collision must intervene (Burke et al., 1984; Dewey ...

Bacterial attachment and junctional transport function in induced apical-out polarized and differentiated canine intestinal organoids

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
Dogs are increasingly recognized as valuable large animal models for understanding human intestinal diseases, as they naturally develop conditions similar to those in humans, such as Enterohemorrhagic E.

Light‐Controlled Reversible Coassembly of Hybrid Functional Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light‐responsive hybrid nanostructures are formed by coassembling azobenzene‐ and PAH‐functionalized nanoparticles through reversible an tunable π interactions. The system enables tunable coupling between distinct components such as gold and magnetite or carbon nanotubes, producing switchable optical and magnetic properties under light and magnetic ...

Effect of Temperature on Space Charge Distribution of Oil–Paper Insulation under DC and Polarity Reversal Voltage

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
The electric field distortion caused by space charge is an important factor affecting the operation reliability of oil–paper insulation in a converter transformer.

Dynamic fluvial systems and gravel progradation in the Himalayan foreland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Although the large-scale stratigraphy of many terrestrial foreland basins is punctuated by major episodes of gravel progradation, the relationships of such facies to hinterland tectonism and climate change are often unclear. Structural reentrants provide

Dynamo activities driven by magneto-rotational instability and Parker instability in galactic gaseous disk

open access: yes, 2013
We carried out global three-dimensional magneto-hydrodynamic simulations of dynamo activities in galactic gaseous disks without assuming equatorial symmetry.

Prospects of Electric Field Control in Perpendicular Magnetic Tunnel Junctions and Emerging 2D Spintronics for Ultralow Energy Memory and Logic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electric control of magnetic tunnel junctions offers a path to drastically reduce the energy requirements of the device. Electric field control of magnetization can be realized in a multitude of ways. These mechanisms can be integrated into existing spintronic devices to further reduce the operational energy.
