Fast recharge circuit for q-switched lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Cavity-dumped lasers employ electrooptic-effect cell to alternately block and release laser pulse. Cell requires high-speed switching circuit that can apply and remove high voltage.

Solar Activity Studies using Microwave Imaging Observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We report on the status of solar cycle 24 based on polar prominence eruptions (PEs) and microwave brightness enhancement (MBE) information obtained by the Nobeyama radioheliograph.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Paleomagnetism of Upper Vendian sediments from the Winter Coast, White Sea region, Russia: Implications for the paleogeography of Baltica during Neoproterozoic times [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Paleomagnetic results from an Upper Vendian sedimentary sequence exposed along the White Sea shoreline, NW Russia are described. These classical exposures have been the subject of intense paleontological investigations due to their well-preserved ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Spin–orbit torques in normal metal/Nb/ferromagnet heterostructures

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Quantifying the spin–orbit torque (SOT) efficiency with changing the layer thickness is crucial for understanding the physical background of SOT. This study investigates the Nb-thickness-dependent SOT efficiency of two types of layered heterostructures ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Geomagnetic Field, Polarity Reversals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Bernard Brunhes (1906) was the first to measure magnetization directions in rocks that were approximately antiparallel to the present Earth’s field. Brunhes (1906) recorded magnetizations in baked sedimentary rocks that were aligned with reverse magnetization directions in overlying Miocene lavas from central France (Puy de Dome). In so doing, Brunhes (

Polarity reversals under sluicing [PDF]

open access: yesSemantics and Pragmatics, 2019
This paper presents novel English sluicing data that challenge even the most successful existing theories of the relationship between antecedent and elided content in sluicing constructions. The data supply robust evidence for a previously unobserved phenomenon in which the elided content and antecedent content in a sluicing construction contain ...

Development of Polarity-Reversed Endometrial Epithelial Organoids

open access: yesReproduction, 2023
AbstractThe uterine epithelium is composed of a single layer of hormone responsive polarized epithelial cells that line the lumen and form tubular glands. Endometrial epithelial organoids (EEO) can be generated from uterine epithelia and recapitulate cell composition and hormone responsesin vitro.
