Polarizability of a hydrogenic state
Physical Review A, 1996Using Floquet spectroscopy, we have measured the scalar and tensor polarizabilities of a nominally hydrogenic state of a multielectron atom. Polarizability of alkali clusters
Physical Review B, 1985Molecular-beam deflection measurements of the static electric polarizability per atom, \ensuremath{\alpha}/N, are reported for sodium clusters up to N=40. The quantity \ensuremath{\alpha}/N decreases from the atomic polarizability to approximately 150% of the bulk value, at N=40.

Core Polarizabilities in Metals
Physica Scripta, 1982Linear response formalism within the density-functional scheme is applied in a calculation of core polarizabilities in simple metals. While the core polarizability changes relatively little (around 10%) from its free-ion value in the alkalis, Mg and Al, large increases are found for metals like Ga, Cd, In, and Sn with full d-shells.
