Polarization division multiplexing for nonlinear Fourier-based transmission schemes
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2018A polarization-division multiplexing (PDM) transmission scheme based on the nonlinear Fourier transform (NFT) is considered. A new dual-polarization processing technique with reduced complexity, providing 1dB performance improvement, is introduced.

Uncompensated 20 Gb/s Duobinary Polarization Division Multiplexing Transmission over 200 km
2007 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO), 2007Transmission of 20 Gb/s optical signal over 200 km of uncompensated SMF fiber is achieved. The duobinary format dispersion robustness has been exploited together with polarization division multiplexing to significantly increase the maximum uncompensated reach.

We report on the direct modulation of blue laser diodes for underwater optical communication utilizing wavelength, polarization and space division multiplexing. Using this scalable architecture, we demonstrate an effective data rate of 10 Gbit/s.
