Polarization-insensitive and polarization-controlled dual-band third-harmonic generation in silicon metasurfaces driven by quasi-bound states in the continuum

Applied Physics Letters
High-refractive-index nanostructures offer versatile opportunities for nonlinear optical effects, due to their ability to strongly confine field into a subwavelength scale.

A wideband and polarization-insensitive graphene-based metamaterial absorber

, 2021
The concept of a wideband and polarization-insensitive absorber based on graphene for terahertz (THz) applications is presented in this paper. To broaden the absorption bandwidth, we have combined two concentric rectangular rings with cross-shaped strips.

A 2-Bit Programmable Reflectarray Antenna Based on a Polarization-Insensitive Metasurface

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation
In this article, a programmable reflectarray antenna (PRA) for 5G network in the S-band is proposed. The first 2-bit reconfigurable polarization-insensitive metasurface with two substrates, three metal layers, and only four p-i-n diodes in each unit cell

A Simple Polarization-Insensitive and Wide Angular Stable Circular Ring Based Undeca-Band Absorber for EMI/EMC Applications

IEEE transactions on electromagnetic compatibility (Print), 2021
In this article, a closed ring resonator-based absorber with eleven consecutive absorption peaks is proposed over X and K bands with an average absorption rate of 96.29%. The proposed design consists of circular ring resonators embedded in the circularly

On the design of polarization‐insensitive semiconductor optical amplifiers

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2002
AbstractWe have used the 4 × 4 Luttinger–Kohn Hamiltonian to analyse the presence of delta‐strain in quantum well on the polarization properties of semiconductor optical amplifiers. The analysis is performed for a 1.55 μm InGaAsP/InP lattice matched system grown in the [001] direction with and without the electrostatic effects of the carrier charges ...

Metasurfaces for Polarization-Insensitive and Directional Backscatter Communications

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation
Achieving low-power and polarization-insensitive communication is a crucial and challenging task in the Internet of Everything. In this communication, we propose and demonstrate the implementation of two amplitude-reconfigurable metasurfaces, loaded with

A Compact Polarization-Insensitive Rectenna With Harmonic Suppression for Wireless Power Transfer

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters
A compact, polarization-insensitive rectenna based on metasurface (MS) is designed at a frequency of 5.8 GHz. The proposed MS element consists of a subwavelength octagonal metal ring, offering insensitivity to the polarization of incoming waves.

Polarization-Insensitive Metalens and Its Applications to Reflectarrays With Polarization Diversity

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2022
A synthesized strategy for achieving polarization-insensitive metalens is proposed by imposing identical parabolic phase patterns individually on two decoupled left-handed (spin up, $\sigma +$ ) and right-handed (spin down, $\sigma -$ ) circular ...

Polarization insensitive, broadband terahertz metamaterial absorber

Optics Letters, 2011
We present the simulation, implementation, and measurement of a polarization insensitive broadband resonant terahertz metamaterial absorber. By stacking metal-insulator layers with differing structural dimensions, three closely positioned resonant peaks are merged into one broadband absorption spectrum.
