Polarization maintaining square

2009
We have reported a polarization maintaining multicore air/silica optical fiber. Such a fiber can serve as an image guide for laser scanning endoscopy. We designed and fabricated a series of multicore fiber with a square lattice and non coupled individual cores.

Fiber-Optic Current Sensor Tolerant to Imperfections of Polarization-Maintaining Fiber Connectors

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2018
We investigate the effect of polarization cross-coupling at polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber connectors on the accuracy of an interferometric fiber-optic current sensor.

Asymmetric behavior of polished polarization-maintaining couplers

Optics Letters, 1990
Basic asymmetric behavior is experimentally observed in a polished polarization-maintaining fiber coupler. As the two half-couplers are made to slide on top of each other, the output extinction ratio exhibits relatively large variations whose forms depend on the fiber that is selected for the input.

Update on polarization-maintaining fibers

Optical Fiber Communication, 1984
There is widespread interest in fibers which can hold a given state of polarization despite bends, kinks, and environmental changes. Applications at present are primarily in fiber sensors with the fiber gyroscope1 the most immediate. However, the attainment2 of low loss with good polarization holding in lengths up to 8 km is an indication of the ...

Polarization-Maintaining Optical Fibers

1989
In ordinary axially symmetrical single-mode fibers, two mutually independent orthogonal HE11 modes can propagate. In the framework of Cartesian coordinates, these are the HE11x mode, which has its principal electric field component in the x direction, and the HE11y mode, which has principally the y component of the electric field. We hereafter omit the

Developments in Elliptical Core Polarization-Maintaining Fiber

8th Optical Fiber Sensors Conference, 1992
Polarization maintaining (PM) optical fibers are showing promise in a new generation of gyroscope applications and other fiber optic sensing systems. One of the key obstacles to making in-roads in these applications remains the longterm cost of the PM fiber.

All-Polarization-Maintaining Ultrafast Fiber Lasers

Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) 2025
Utilizing a self-stabilized interferometer mode-locker, we demonstrate a bidirectional all-polarization-maintaining Er-doped fiber laser, and the generation of both harmonic mode-locking and noise-like pulses in an all-polarization-maintaining Tm-doped fiber laser.

Practical circular-polarization-maintaining optical fiber

Applied Optics, 1997
The author describes a new idea for making circular-polarization-maintaining optical fiber with an existing fabrication technique. The method simply requires one to spin at a constant rate a special preform consisting of only one off-axis stress-applying element in addition to the on-axis core.
