Peripheral blood leukocyte signatures as biomarkers in relapsed ovarian cancer patients receiving combined anti‐CD73/anti‐PD‐L1 immunotherapy in arm A of the NSGO‐OV‐UMB1/ENGOT‐OV30 trial

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using mass cytometry, we analyzed serial blood samples from patients with relapsed epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) treated with oleclumab–durvalumab combination immunotherapy in the NSGO‐OV‐UMB1/ENGOT‐OV30 trial. Our analysis identified potential predictive, monitoring, and response biomarkers detectable through liquid biopsy. These findings facilitate

Polarized games

open access: yesAnnals of Pure and Applied Logic, 2003
We generalize the intuitionistic Hyland–Ong games (and in a second step Abramsky–Jagadeesan–Malacaria games) to a notion of polarized games allowing games with plays starting by proponent moves. The usual constructions on games are adjusted to fit this setting yielding game models for both Intuitionistic Linear Logic and Polarized Linear Logic.

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

MIF as an oncogenic driver of low‐heterogeneity melanomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Shvefel and colleagues identified tumor‐secreted macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) as an upregulated cytokine that mediates immune resistance in melanomas with low‐intratumoral heterogeneity. MIF and its functional paralogue D‐dopachrome tautomerase (D‐DT or MIF‐2) have overlapping but nonidentical signaling functions and are hypothesized to

Recycling Polarity [PDF]

open access: yesDevelopmental Cell, 2005
Three current papers in Cell and in this issue of Developmental Cell highlight the role of the exocyst in recycling of membrane proteins from endosomes to the plasma membrane in asymmetric cell division and polarized epithelial cells.

Role of Human Macrophage Polarization in Inflammation during Infectious Diseases

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2018
Experimental models have often been at the origin of immunological paradigms such as the M1/M2 dichotomy following macrophage polarization. However, this clear dichotomy in animal models is not as obvious in humans, and the separating line between M1 ...

Understanding and measuring mechanical signals in the tumor stroma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review discusses cancer‐associated fibroblast subtypes and their functions, particularly in relation to extracellular matrix production, as well as the development of 3D models to study tumor stroma mechanics in vitro. Several quantitative techniques to measure tissue mechanical properties are also described, to emphasize the diagnostic and ...

Characterization of apartments in polar Grassmannians [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Buildings of types $\textsf{C}_n$ and $\textsf{D}_n$ are defined by rank $n$ polar spaces. The associated building Grassmannians are polar and half-spin Grassmannians. Apartments in dual polar spaces and half-spin Grassmannians were characterized in \cite{CKS}.

Macrophage Polarization in Physiological and Pathological Pregnancy

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
The immunology of pregnancy is complex and poorly defined. During the complex process of pregnancy, macrophages secrete many cytokines/chemokines and play pivotal roles in the maintenance of maternal-fetal tolerance.
