Metasurface Polarization Optics: Independent Phase Control of Arbitrary Orthogonal States of Polarization.

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2017
We present a method allowing for the imposition of two independent and arbitrary phase profiles on any pair of orthogonal states of polarization-linear, circular, or elliptical-relying only on simple, linearly birefringent wave plate elements arranged ...

High Repetition Rate Laser‐Induced Printing of Bioink with Picosecond Pulse Durations: Optimization of the Printing Process

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the use of laser‐induced forward transfer in the picosecond regime to create in vitro biomodels. Focusing on hydrodynamics and rheology, it investigates jet dynamics through time‐resolved imaging, optimizing laser fluence, biological ink viscosity, and printing distance to precisely control the volume and location of bioink ...

An outline of polar spaces: basics and advances [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
This paper is an extended version of a series of lectures on polar spaces given during the workshop and conference 'Groups and Geometries', held at the Indian Statistical Institute in Bangalore in December 2012. The aim of this paper is to give an overview of the theory of polar spaces focusing on some research topics related to polar spaces. We survey

Rational Engineering of Nanostructured AgM (M = Au, Pt, Pd) Bimetallic Electrodes via Galvanic Replacement for Glycerol Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the feasibility of fabricating free‐standing carbon paper electrodes by electroplating and galvanic replacement. Nanostructured AgM (M = Au, Pt, Pd) bimetallic catalysts are directly grown on the electrode substrate, which exhibit good performance for glycerol electrolysis, a sustainable approach for the co‐production of green ...

Does Ignorance Matter? The Relative Importance of Civic Knowledge and the Human Tendency to Engage in Motivated Reasoning

open access: yesJournal of Public and Nonprofit Affairs, 2015
It has long been understood that political knowledge in the U.S. is very low. For those who care about the quality of American democracy, this is a big problem. In attempting to find a solution, many people often blame education.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.
