Reflecting polarizing beam splitter

Optics Letters, 1997
We propose and experimentally demonstrate the use of metal-covered lamellar relief gratings as a polarizing beam splitter operating at a single wavelength near Littrow incidence. We report the characteristics of a grating produced by holography and reactive ion etching that was calculated for operation as beam splitter at lambda = 633 nm (for a He-Ne ...

Polarization beam splitters using polarization diffraction gratings

Optics Letters, 2001
We report a polarization beam splitter that uses polarization gratings written onto a zero-twist nematic liquid-crystal display. We show three configurations. The first two separate the diffracted light into two orthogonally polarized orders that are either linearly or circularly polarized.

On-chip silicon switchable polarization beam splitter

Optics Letters, 2022
We propose and experimentally demonstrate an on-chip switchable polarization beam splitter (PBS) using silicon waveguides. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first demonstration of an on-chip PBS that is not only able to split polarization beams but can be tuned to allow these beams to switch the output paths.
