High-efficiency and wide-bandwidth linear polarization converter based on double U-shaped metasurface

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
In this paper, we propose a high-efficiency and wide-bandwidth linear polarization converter using double U-shaped metasurface. The design is based on the two dimensional artificial electromagnetic materials and micro-antenna array.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Plasma-Based Reflective Surface for Polarization Conversion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
This study analyses, for the first time, the use of reflective surfaces based on magnetized plasmas for polarization conversion. The feasibility of this concept has been assessed via a theoretical model.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Observation of Topologically Enabled Complete Polarization Conversion

open access: yesLaser & Photonics Reviews, 2023
AbstractExploiting topological ideas has been a major theme in modern photonics, which provides unprecedented opportunities to design photonic devices with robustness against defects. While most previous works in topological photonics have focused on band theory, recent theories extend the topological concepts to the analysis of scattering matrices and

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Terahertz Broadband Polarization Conversion for Transmitted Waves Based on Graphene Plasmon Resonances

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
We applied the harmonic oscillator model combined with the transfer matrix method to study the polarization conversion for transmitted waves in metallic grating/plasmon-excitation layer/metallic grating structure in the terahertz (THz) region.

On-Demand Dynamic Terahertz Polarization Manipulation Based on Pneumatically Actuated Metamaterial

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
In this paper, a new tuning strategy is proposed by incorporating a pneumatically actuated metamaterial to achieve on-demand polarization manipulation at THz frequencies.

Switchable cross-polarization conversion in ultrathin metasurfaces

open access: yes, 2015
An actively switchable cross-polarization conversion is realized in an ultrathin metasurface consisting of periodic arrays of 30 nmthick meta-molecules covered with a 50 nm thick vanadium dioxide layer.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...
