Polarization converting antenna

1971 Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 1971
A new type of polarization converting antenna has been introduced. This antenna receives vertically polarized signals and re-radiates it with horizontal polarization, or vice-versa. This type of polarization converting antenna is useful for responder applications. The responder is a passive version of a transponder.

A W-Band Polarization Converter and Isolator

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2007
A 95-GHz printed low-loss linear-to-circular polarizer is designed as a component of an active direct-detection millimeter-wave imaging system. The periodic printed grid structure presents different reactances to the TE and TM polarizations, resulting in equal amplitude and phase quadrature upon transmission through four parallel grids.

Optical element converting linear polarization into circular-tangential polarization

Applied Optics, 1995
A new optical element capable of converting linear polarization into circular-tangential polarization (i.e., the electric vector is along the tangential direction to a circle) is proposed and demonstrated. The conversion characteristics of the fabricated element are evaluated, and the magnitude of aberration produced by the element is shown to be ...

Integrated metamaterial with the functionalities of an absorption and polarization converter

Applied Optics, 2023
A switchable and tunable dual-function absorber/polarization converter is presented in this work. The constitution of the structure, which incorporates patterned graphene and photosensitive silicon (Si), can minimize undesired optical losses. Simulated results show that when the Si is metallic, the structure behaves as a broadband absorption of more ...

Surface wave polarization converter

2015 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation & USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting, 2015
A surface Bare polarization converter vias designed and fabricated. The structure conTerts the polarization of surface waves between pare TM and IE polarizations. The design was fabricated using printed circuit techniques, and it was composed of a solid ground plane and an etched top later of anisotropic metallic patterning Conversion is achieved by ...

A wave polarization converter for circular polarization

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1963
A linearly polarized wave may be converted to a circularly polarized wave by means of a panel which provides 90\deg difference in transmission phase between two crossed linear components. This phase difference is obtained over a wide frequency band by means of thin sheets containing both inductive and capacitive shunt susceptance.

Reflection gratings as polarization converters

Optics Communications, 1997
Abstract An experimental and theoretical modelling study of corrugated gold surfaces, where the refractive index of the upper medium is varied to change the effective wavelength of the incident radiation, is presented. For certain corrugation amplitudes we show that it is possible to convert nearly 100% of plane polarized light incident normal to the

Unidirectional magnetooptic polarization converters

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1999
Inclination of the bias magnetization in a magnetooptic waveguide yields both nonreciprocal phase shifts and polarization conversion. This enables the design of unidirectional polarization converters, i.e., waveguides that switch between orthogonal polarizations for one direction of light propagation, but keep the polarization state for light ...

Fluorescence polarization assay for endothelin-converting enzymes

Peptides, 1995
The conversion of big endothelin to endothelin by alpha-chymotrypsin was determined by following its single Trp fluorescence polarization. This provides a novel, simple, fast, and sensitive identifying assay in the search for a native endothelin-converting enzyme.
