Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

An Efficient Polarization Converter for Mid-IR Wavelength [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics 2013, 2013
Design of a silicon-based polarization converter through phase matched power coupling between TE and TM modes is presented. Conversion efficiency up to 90% is feasible at 3 μm wavelength with device length of 536 μm.

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

An Ultra-Wideband Reflective Linear-to-Circular Polarization Converter Based on Anisotropic Metasurface

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In this work, an ultra-wideband and high-efficiency reflective linear-to-circular polarization converter based on an anisotropic metasurface is proposed, which is an orthotropic structure with a pair of mutually perpendicular symmetric axes u and v along

High-Efficiency Asymmetric Transmission of Red-Near-Infrared Light Based on Chiral Metamaterial

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2021
Designing and fabricating high-performance polarization converters that exhibit asymmetric transmission (AT), for light with different circularly/linearly polarized states with opposite propagating directions, are in high demand.

Actively stabilized wavelength-insensitive carrier elimination from an electro-optically modulated laser beam

open access: yes, 2012
We demonstrate a simple and robust technique for removal of the carrier wave from a phase-modulated laser beam, using a noninterferometric method that is insensitive to the modulation frequency and instead exploits the polarization dependence of electro ...
