Robust Carrier Recovery in Polarization Division Multiplexed Receivers
Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2012We present a novel carrier recovery which can track fast and large sinusoidal frequency oscillations of commercially available lasers and efficiently compensate for laser noise. Q gain of 0.8 dB is recorded in offline experiments.

Polarization-division multiplexed solitons in optical fibers with polarization-mode dispersion
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1998We point out that the use of polarization-division multiplexed solitons is only preferable to a copolarized pulse train only if the system is interaction-limited and the polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) is sufficiently weak. If the PMD is stronger, copolarized solitons perform better than polarization-division multiplexed ones.

Benefiting from the high spectral efficiency and low peak-to-average power ratio, constant envelope orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising technique in coherent optical communication. Polarization-division multiplexing (PDM) has been employed as an effective way to double the transmission capacity in the commercial 100  Gb/s ...

Nonlinear phase noise in polarization-division-multiplexed DPSK systems
2006 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and 2006 Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference, 2006Nonlinear phase noise (NPN) in polarization-division-multiplexed DPSK systems is analyzed. It is found that the absolute NPN is inversely proportional to the square-root of channel spacing, while the differential NPN depends on the launch condition.

Nonlinear Frequency Division Multiplexing: from Single Polarization to Dual Polarization
2019 24th OptoElectronics and Communications Conference (OECC) and 2019 International Conference on Photonics in Switching and Computing (PSC), 2019In this paper, we review the recent progress of Nonlinear Frequency Division Multiplexing (NFDM) transmission research. In addition, we also highlight the challenges of NFDM transmissions in practical implementation conditions and provide the future outlook.

I analyze by numerical simulation and perturbation theory the effect of frequency-sliding filters on the interactions between orthogonally polarized solitons. It is found that strong filters may substantially increase the collision distance.

Polarization Division Multiplexing for Optical Data Communications
2019Multiple parallel channels are ubiquitous in optical communications, with spatial division multiplexing (separate physical paths) and wavelength division multiplexing (separate optical wavelengths) being the most common forms. In this research work, we investigate the viability of polarization division multiplexing, the separation of distinct parallel ...

Polarization-division-multiplexing (PDM) [1–4], which transmits two channels with orthogonal states of polarization (SOPs) at an identical wavelength, was proposed long time ago to double the capacity of fiber-optic communication systems, but it was only until recently that the technique attracted much attention. The increasing demand for communication
