Structure and Electrochemistry of LiV3O8 Thin Film Electrode: Effect of Diffusion Rate and Concentration on Cell Polarization

open access: closedECS Meeting Abstracts, 2019
Electrochemistry of lithium trivanadate (LiV3O8, LVO) has been extensively studied due to its large capacity and high rate capability. The material undergoes both insertion/extraction and phase transform reactions during discharge and charge in a Li-ion battery. However, the rate limiting factors of the material are unclear over the cycling window of

Dependence of Quinone Electrochemistry on Solvent Polarity and pH

Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 2022
We studied the polarographic reduction of quinones in aqueous/organic mixtures with dielectric constants (ε) from 78.4 down to 47. Added organic co-solvents were either protic or aprotic. The increase in polarographic half-wave potential,E1/2, with decliningεwas successfully fit to the Born equation down toε≈ 55.

Alleviating the common confusion caused by polarity in electrochemistry

Journal of Chemical Education, 1989
The issue of polarity encountered in electrochemistry and relevant to a variety of electrochemical concepts often confuses students and is an unnecessary deterrent to the study of electrochemistry.

Synthesis, structure, electrochemistry, and photophysics of 2,5-dibenzylidenecyclopentanones containing in benzene rings substituents different in polarity [PDF]

open access: possibleRussian Chemical Bulletin, 2016
A series of cross-conjugated dienones was synthesized to study the dependence of physicochemical characteristics on the nature of substituents in the aromatic groups of symmetric cyclopentanone dibenzylidene derivatives. The structure of compounds was established by electronic, IR, and NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction study.

The Electrochemistry of Nickel

Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 1963
Abstract : The anodic dissolution of Ni was studied in acidified chloride, sulfate, and perchlorate solutions under a variety of non-passivating conditions. The Tafel slopes at 45 deg C are approximately 0.085, 0.115, 0.12, respectively. The lower value of the Tafel slope in chloride solutions is attributed to specific adsorption.

Improved Electrochemistry in Low-Polarity Media Using Tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate Salts as Supporting Electrolytes

Angewandte Chemie, 2000
The noncoordinating anion [B(C(6)F(5))(4)](-) solubilizes cations and polycations, allowing the generation and study of such systems in low-dielectric media. Thus, when [NBu(4)][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] is used as a supporting electrolyte, cyclic voltammetry is possible in aliphatic ethers and other solvents of very low polarity.
