Improved Electrochemistry in Low-Polarity Media Using Tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate Salts as Supporting Electrolytes

Angewandte Chemie, 2000
The noncoordinating anion [B(C(6)F(5))(4)](-) solubilizes cations and polycations, allowing the generation and study of such systems in low-dielectric media. Thus, when [NBu(4)][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] is used as a supporting electrolyte, cyclic voltammetry is possible in aliphatic ethers and other solvents of very low polarity.

Synthesis, structure, electrochemistry, and photophysics of 2,5-dibenzylidenecyclopentanones containing in benzene rings substituents different in polarity

Russian Chemical Bulletin, 2016
A series of cross-conjugated dienones was synthesized to study the dependence of physicochemical characteristics on the nature of substituents in the aromatic groups of symmetric cyclopentanone dibenzylidene derivatives. The structure of compounds was established by electronic, IR, and NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction study.

Electrochemistry in Non-Polar Media Enabled By New Lipophilic Salts

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2018
There is little known about electrochemical behavior in non-polar media due to lack of compatible, lipophilic salts. [1] Herein, this difficult challenge has been overcome by following a strategy based on designing and synthesizing a novel family of organic salts with highly-delocalized cations and anions. The salts show good miscibility in heptane,

Ultrasonic Waves and Electrochemistry. V. The Frequency Characteristics the Electrokinetic and the AC Polarized Gas Electrode Effects

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1955
The frequency characteristics of the acousto-electrokinetic effect and the ac polarized gas electrode effect have been determined with pulse-modulated ultrasonic waves in the range 200 to 1000 kc/sec as a function of solution and electrode parameters.

The electrochemistry of the tin oxide semiconductor—I. the establishment of mechanisms at polarized n-type tin oxide

Electrochimica Acta, 1972
Abstract The mechanisms of electrode potential re-establishment of the n-type unstoichiometrical tin oxide semiconductor electrode after cathodic and anodic polarization was investigated. The tin oxide semiconductor was polarized cathodically and anodically without evolution of hydrogen or oxygen and the potential/time curves at open circuit were ...

Ultrasonic Waves and Electrochemistry. IV. The Production of Alternating Components in the Potential of a Polarized Hydrogen Electrode with Ultrasonic Waves

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1953
If sound waves interact with an electrode upon which a gas is being liberated by electrolysis, an alternating potential of the same frequency is developed on the electrode relative to the bulk of the surrounding solution. The effect has been studied in the case of a polarized hydrogen electrode with pulse-modulated ultrasonic waves at a frequency of ...
