Structure and Electrochemistry of LiV3O8 Thin Film Electrode: Effect of Diffusion Rate and Concentration on Cell Polarization

open access: closedECS Meeting Abstracts, 2019
Electrochemistry of lithium trivanadate (LiV3O8, LVO) has been extensively studied due to its large capacity and high rate capability. The material undergoes both insertion/extraction and phase transform reactions during discharge and charge in a Li-ion battery. However, the rate limiting factors of the material are unclear over the cycling window of

Spin Polarization of Chiral Amorphous Fe‐Ni Electrocatalysts Enabling Efficient Electrochemical Oxygen Evolution

Advanced Functional Materials, 2023
Chiral‐induced spin selectivity is recently demonstrated in a range of spin‐dependent optoelectronics and electrochemistry. Herein, a new type of amorphous chiral tartaric acid‐FeNi coordination polymer fabricated by electrodeposition methods, achieving ...

A Study of Corrosion Electrochemistry of Steel in Chloride Contaminated Concrete Using a Rapid Scan Polarization Technique

open access: closedCorrosion, 1987
Corrosion of steel in portland cement concrete has been found to be very damaging and costly to many countries in the world. It is possible to control this corrosion damage in several ways and one of these is the use of inhibitors.

Magnetic Field-Enhanced Oxygen Evolution Reaction via the Tuneability of Spin Polarization in a Half-Metal Catalyst.

ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2023
The magnetic field response of an electrochemistry process, such as the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), provides not only a strategy for enhanced catalytic activity by applying an external field but also a platform for revealing the functionality of the

Dependence of Quinone Electrochemistry on Solvent Polarity and pH

Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 2022
We studied the polarographic reduction of quinones in aqueous/organic mixtures with dielectric constants (ε) from 78.4 down to 47. Added organic co-solvents were either protic or aprotic. The increase in polarographic half-wave potential,E1/2, with decliningεwas successfully fit to the Born equation down toε≈ 55.

New Insights on the Sodium Water-in-Salt Electrolyte and Carbon Electrode Interface from Electrochemistry and Operando Raman Studies.

ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2021
Comprehensive electrochemical and operando Raman studies are performed to investigate the electrochemical stability window (ESW) of supercapacitors filled with normal (salt-in-water) and highly concentrated (water-in-salt, WiSE) electrolytes.

Alleviating the common confusion caused by polarity in electrochemistry

Journal of Chemical Education, 1989
The issue of polarity encountered in electrochemistry and relevant to a variety of electrochemical concepts often confuses students and is an unnecessary deterrent to the study of electrochemistry.

Interfacial Polarization and Ionic Structure at the Ionic Liquid-Metal Interface Studied by Vibrational Spectroscopy and Molecular Dynamics Simulations.

Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2021
Ionic liquids (ILs) have both fundamental and practical value in interfacial science and electrochemistry. However, understanding their behavior near a surface is challenging because of strong Coulomb interactions and large and irregular ionic sizes ...
