Amidinium salts: Towards enabling electrochemistry in non-polar media from alkanes to ionic liquids
Abstract There is little known about electrochemical behavior in non-polar media due to lack of compatible, hydrophobic salts. In this work, this difficult challenge has been overcome by following a strategy based on designing and synthesizing a novel family of organic salts with highly-delocalized cations and anions.

Photoelectrochemical ion concentration polarization : a microfluidic ion filtration system using light-driven electrochemical reactions [PDF]
We report an ion separation or filtration method used in microchannel called photoelectrochemical ion concentration polarization (pICP). As a variant of faradaic ion concentration polarization (fICP), pICP utilizes TiO₂ photoelectrochemistry to form an ...

Composition depth profile analysis of electrodeposited alloys and metal multilayers: the reverse approach [PDF]
The reverse depth profile analysis is a recently developed method for the study of a deposit composition profile in the near-substrate zone. The sample preparation technique enables one to separate the deposit and a thin cover layer from its substrate ...

In this research, ZrC coatings are evaluated against various counterprobes at the microscale using novel super‐stiff atomic force microscopy cantilevers. The chemical composition of the coating is shown to be an important factor influencing coating hardness and Young's modulus, while surface roughness, counterprobe hardness, and surface energy are the ...
