Diffraction Images in the Polarizing Microscope
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1959In the polarizing microscope set for extinction, only that image whose polarization has been altered is available to form an image. The lenses themselves introduce such an alternation by rotation of the plane of polarization of rays having oblique incidence.

Applied Optics, 1981
Although several attempts have been made in the past to use the partially polarized nature of optical fields in constructing images, the technique is not widely known or used. This paper reviews the principles of single-parameter polarization imaging and introduces the concept of multiparameter Stokes vector imaging.

Log-polar and polar image for recognition targets
2010 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2010We describe in this paper, data processing algorithms applied on radar image in order to extract feature descriptors and then to perform recognition task. Several kinds of descriptors can be used to acquire information about target characteristics from radar images such as ISAR (Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar) images. This paper presents two types of

Clustering of polarization-encoded images
Applied Optics, 2004Polarization-encoded imaging consists of the distributed measurements of polarization parameters for each pixel of an image. We address clustering of multidimensional polarization-encoded images. The spatial coherence of polarization information is considered.

Polarization difference ghost imaging
Applied Optics, 2015We propose the polarization difference ghost imaging method and experimentally demonstrate that polarization properties can provide additional information in conventional ghost imaging for object discrimination with contrast enhancement. In our experiment, two kinds of visually similar objects with different polarization properties can be separated for

Optical characterization of a polarization imager
2011 IEEE International Symposium of Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2011Polarization is a fundamental property of light for which humans have no innate detector. Numerous sensors have been devised to capture this property of light. Of these types of sensors, division of focal plane polarimeters allow for both high resolution and real-time capture of the angle and degree of polarization.

Tomographic imaging with polarized light
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2012We report three-dimensional tomographic reconstruction of optical parameters for the mesoscopic light scattering regime from experimentally obtained datasets by using polarized light. We present a numerically inexpensive approximation to the radiative transfer equation governing the polarized light transport.

Polarization imaging reflectometry in the wild
ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2017We present a novel approach for on-site acquisition of surface reflectance for planar, spatially varying, isotropic samples in uncontrolled outdoor environments. Our method exploits the naturally occurring linear polarization of incident and reflected illumination for this purpose.

Polarization Multiplexing for Bidirectional Imaging
2005 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR'05), 2005Our goal is to incorporate polarization in appearance-based modeling in an efficient and meaningful way. Polarization has been used in numerous prior studies for separating diffuse and specular reflectance components, but in this work we show that it also can be used to separate surface reflectance contributions from individual light sources.

Rotating orthogonal polarization imaging
Optics Letters, 2008Surface reflections often present a problem in the polarization difference imaging of tissue. The technique described involves illumination in a single polarization state and detection in the orthogonal polarization state. Synchronously rotating both the illumination and orthogonal detection states provides an image free from surface reflections that ...
