Optical polarization imaging

Applied Optics, 1997
The temporal profiles of the parallel and perpendicular polarization components of a light pulse backscattered from a scattering medium are different. The depth of penetration into the tissue and depolarization of the backscattered light depend on the scattering and absorption characteristics of the tissue.

Polarization in reflectance imaging

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2020
The Sinclair and Kennaugh matrices are widely used in the remote sensing discipline for signals detected in the backward direction. The connections between the Jones matrix and the Sinclair matrix, and between the Mueller matrix and the Kennaugh matrix, are explored.

Polarization difference ghost imaging

Applied Optics, 2015
We propose the polarization difference ghost imaging method and experimentally demonstrate that polarization properties can provide additional information in conventional ghost imaging for object discrimination with contrast enhancement. In our experiment, two kinds of visually similar objects with different polarization properties can be separated for

Polarization modulation imaging ellipsometer

Optics Letters, 2006
The polarization modulation technique was successfully combined with parallel synchronous detection using a switching light source and a CCD camera to realize full-frame measurement of ellipsometric parameters. The detected thickness of a monolayer film of n-octadecylsiloxane agreed well with theoretical and reported experimental values.

Polarization imaging

Applied Optics, 1981
Although several attempts have been made in the past to use the partially polarized nature of optical fields in constructing images, the technique is not widely known or used. This paper reviews the principles of single-parameter polarization imaging and introduces the concept of multiparameter Stokes vector imaging.
