Tomographic imaging with polarized light
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2012We report three-dimensional tomographic reconstruction of optical parameters for the mesoscopic light scattering regime from experimentally obtained datasets by using polarized light. We present a numerically inexpensive approximation to the radiative transfer equation governing the polarized light transport.

Quantitative characteristics of polarization images
Biomedical Engineering, 1996Paper shows that quantitative data on the anisotropic structures in the form of three-dimensional images having a high spatial resolution could be practically obtained and presents the results of examining a number of anisotropic objects using the experimental model of a computerized polarizing microscope.

Compressive polar spectral and polarization imaging
2018"Conventional digital imaging captures the desired image information directly on an imaging sensor. When high dimensional imaging capability is required such as spectral imaging and spectropolarimetric imaging, inecient sampling strategies are usually involved, such as scanning and division of the focal plane array, resulting in either poor real-time ...

Diffraction Images in the Polarizing Microscope
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1959In the polarizing microscope set for extinction, only that image whose polarization has been altered is available to form an image. The lenses themselves introduce such an alternation by rotation of the plane of polarization of rays having oblique incidence.

Polarization detection with polarization interference imaging spectrometer
Optik, 2011Abstract A new method of measuring the intensity and state of polarization of optical radiation by means of the high resolution polarization interference imaging spectrometer (PIIS) is introduced and theoretically investigated in this paper. The error accuracy analysis is proposed, and it is proved that the system is very stable and precise in theory.

In the search for low-cost wide spectrum imagers it may become necessary to sacrifice the expense of the focal plane array and revert to a scanning methodology. In many cases the sensor may be too unwieldy to physically scan and mirrors may have adverse effects on particular frequency bands.

Image registration using Adaptive Polar Transform
2008 15th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2008Image registration is an essential step in many image processing applications that need visual information from multiple images for comparison, integration, or analysis. Recently, researchers have introduced image registration techniques using the log-polar transform (LPT) for its rotation and scale invariant properties.

Atmospheric Polarization Imaging
2007Abstract : A full-sky imaging polarimeter has been developed to measure the four Stokes parameters in each pixel of a full-sky image. The Stokes image set can be acquired in typically less than 1 sec., making possible polarimetric measurements in a partly cloudy sky without creating artifacts from moving clouds.
