Polarization-Independent Photonic Crystal Fabry-Perot Cavity

open access: yes, 2015
We present the design steps for 3D polarization-independent Fabry-Perot cavity. Inclusion of isolated dielectric rods into the limited number of holes at around the central region enables the generation of cavity that sustains both transverse electric ...

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Polarization-independent gain in mid-infrared interband cascade lasers

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
We have calculated the gain function of a type-II W-design AlSb/InAs/GaAsSb/InAs/AlSb quantum wells to be used in an active region of interband cascade lasers, for two linear polarizations of in-plane propagating light: transverse-electric and transverse-

Polarization-Independent Micro-Ring Resonator on Silicon-on-Insulator

open access: yes, 2008
Polarization-independent laterally-coupled micro-ring resonator has been designed and demonstrated. The origin of the polarization-sensitivity of the photonic wire waveguide (PWW) was analyzed.

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Analysis of Biaxially Tensile Strained Ge/SiGe Multiple Quantum Wells for Electro-Absorption Modulators With Low Polarization Sensitivities

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
We analyze theoretically biaxially tensile strained Ge/Si0.18Ge0.82 multiple quantum wells (MQWs) for electro-absorption modulators with low polarization sensitivities.

Omnipolar Magnetic Field Detection by Superlattice‐Based Hall Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic‐field‐induced electronic switching is demonstrated in unit‐cell‐engineered La0.7Sr0.3MnO3–BiFeO3 superlattices. Distinct substrate terminations modify magnetic and transport properties. Hall resistance measurements show omnipolar, hysteretic anomalous Hall switching above the Curie temperature, arising from Fe─Mn interfacial exchange, enabling

High-Efficiency Polarization-Independent LCoS Utilizing a Silicon-Based Metasurface

open access: yesPhotonics
In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) device that achieves high-efficiency, broadband, polarization-independent phase modulation by integrating a metasurface between the liquid crystal layer and the backplane of a ...

Achieving High ON State Current through Ferroelectric Polarization‐Dependent Interfacial Resistance Switching in Undoped Orthorhombic HfO2 Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric tunnel junction devices based on epitaxial undoped ferroelectric HfO2 films demonstrate stable switching endurance of over 106 switching cycles, low write voltages of ±3 V, 16 measured resistance states, and neuromorphic capability.

Generation of Polarization Independent Ring-Airy Beam Based on Metasurface

open access: yesPhotonics
In this paper, we generated polarization-independent ring-Airy beams by designing metasurfaces that can realize modulations of both phase and amplitude. In numerical simulation, such metasurfaces are designed by placing subwavelength rectangular slits in
