High Performance Circularly Polarized MIMO Antenna with Polarization Independent Metamaterial

Wireless Personal Communications, 2020
This paper presents a high performance circularly polarized multiple input multiple output microstrip patch antenna which is suitable for current high data rate requirements. Circular polarization has been achieved by dual feeding the signals in phase quadrature to the patch antenna. A polarization independent metamaterial has been designed.

Highly compact polarization-independent grating coupler

Optics Letters, 2010
We propose a compact polarization-independent output grating coupler, which consists of T-shaped grooves. For only 20 periods on a silicon-on-insulator wafer with a 260nm thick top silicon layer, the output coupling efficiencies for both the TE and the TM modes are larger than 50% in the wavelength range of 1480-1580nm and are approximately 58% around ...

Polarization independent demultiplexing in a polarization diversity nonlinear optical loop mirror

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1997
Polarization independence is a prerequisite if all-optical demultiplexing is to be implemented in future high-speed communication links. The nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) switch has shown potential to work at very high speed. Polarization-independent switching in the NOLM has previously been reported using cross-spliced polarization-maintaining ...

Polarization Independent GaAs/AlGaAs Electrooptic Modulator

Proceedings of IEE/LEOS Summer Topical Meetings: Integrated Optoelectronics, 1996
Two designs for polarization independent GaAs-AlGaAs interferometric electrooptic modulators are described. One design uses the linear electrooptic effect to couple degenerate TE/TM eigenmodes of a single-mode waveguide. In the other design the eigenmodes need only be near degenerate.

Polarization-independent tunable optical filters using bilayer polarization gratings

Applied Optics, 2010
We demonstrate a polarization-independent tunable optical filter based on switchable polarization gratings (PGs) formed using reactive and nonreactive liquid crystals (LCs). PGs are anisotropic diffraction gratings that exhibit unique properties, including a zero-order transmittance that is independent of incident polarization and that can vary from ...

Characterization of a polarization-independent transmission trap detector

Applied Optics, 1997
A six-element polarization-independent transmission trap detector with coaxial input and output beams has been constructed and full characterized. The measured optical parameters are compared with their values, predicted by Fresnel equations. Measured transmittances are in agreement with the predicted values within 2 x 10(-5) in the wavelength region ...

Polarization-Independent, Multilayer Dielectrics at Oblique Incidence

Bell System Technical Journal, 1975
This paper gives solutions for multilayer dielectrics that yield polarization-independent operation at a given angle of incidence and at a given frequency. An exhaustive analysis is given for symmetric three-layer dielectrics surrounded by the same medium. Special solutions are also given for symmetric multilayer dielectrics with more than three layers

Polarization Dependent and Independent Devices

2014
The femtosecond laser writing technology allows to realize a wide variety of optical devices. As seen in the previous chapter, this technique presents many advantages such as rapid prototyping, three-dimensional capabilities and circular transverse profile of the realized waveguides.
