Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Cross-polarization coupling in polarization maintaining fiber induced by periodic mechanical stress
One of the applications of polarization maintaining (PM) fibers is the creation of various sensors including level and hydrostatic pressure sensors. An external mechanical stress on a PM fiber causes cross-polarization coupling.

Two-Layer Polarization-Maintaining Solid-Core Photonic Crystal Fiber
In this study, a two-layer polarization-maintaining solid-core photonic crystal fiber (SC-PCF) is proposed. The cladding has two large holes both in the first and second layers for high birefringence and confinement loss reduction, respectively.

Low-loss polarization-maintaining solid-core anti-resonant fiber in mid-infrared region
This study demonstrates the polarization-maintaining (PM) solid-core anti-resonant fiber (SC-ARF) in mid-infrared region (MIR) for the first time. Numerical simulation results indicated that the fundamental mode (FM) birefringence could be induced by ...

Nonlinear polarization evolution of ultrashort pulses in polarization maintaining fibers
We examine properties of an ultrashort laser pulse propagating through an artificial Saturable Absorber based on Nonlinear Polarization Evolution device which has been realized with Polarization Maintaining fibers only (PM NPE). We study and compare in-line and Faraday Mirror geometries showing that the latter is immune to errors in the PM NPE ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Simultaneous Beat-Length Measurement of a Polarization-Maintaining Few-Mode Fiber
Based on the polarization interference technique, we propose a modified method for simultaneously measuring the beat length of all guided modes in a polarization-maintaining few-mode fiber (PM-FMF).

In this work, we compare the operation of a passively modelocked polarization-maintaining emission in two thulium-doped fiber lasers pumped at 1561 nm, with emission at wavelengths of 1.951 μm in one case and 2.07 μm in the other.
