An Experimental High‐Throughput Approach for the Screening of Hard Magnet Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An entire workflow for the high‐throughput characterization and analysis of compositionally graded magnetic films is presented. Characterization protocols, data management tools and data analysis approaches are illustrated with test case Sm(Fe, V)12 based films.

Additional file 2: of Favorable outcome of patients with lung adenocarcinoma harboring POLE mutations and expressing high PD-L1

open access: yes, 2018
Figure S1. (A) Lollipop plot shows the distribution of POLE mutations in UCEC, LUAD and LUSC cancers. (B) TMB cannot stratify LUAD patients. Figure S2. PD-L1 expression cannot stratify (A) LUAD or (D) LUSC patients without POLE mutations.

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Computer-aided pole figure construction

open access: yesComputers & Geosciences, 1991
Abstract A microcomputer application has been designed to assist in the construction of pole figures using a digital universal microscope stage. The software monitors the stage orientation and switch settings in real time. The trend and plunge of the microscope axis is displayed on an equal area (Schmidt) stereonet in a user-defined reference frame ...

Feasibility of Nitrogen as a Carrier Gas for Inconel Cold Spray in Hydropower Application

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
N2, despite being nearly two orders of magnitude cheaper than He, is a feasible carrier gas for cold spray Inconel coatings in hydropower repair applications when higher gas temperature and pressure are used. Reducing powder size significantly improved cavitation resistance, while the addition of fine chromium carbide particles further enhanced erosion

Grain Refinement During Severe Plastic Deformation and Similitude of Subgrain Formation: A Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular dynamics is used to investigate structure refinement during severe plastic deformation. The results show similitude with experimental data. Molecular dynamics simulations of severe plastic deformation of monocrystalline and polycrystalline samples by multiaxial compression of aluminum are carried out.

Freestanding 30 mm square {111} twin-free heteroepitaxial diamonds grown on highly-misoriented {0001} sapphire substrates

open access: yesApplied Physics Express
Freestanding 30 mm square twin-free {111} diamond films were obtained by heteroepitaxial growth on highly misoriented sapphire substrates. X-ray rocking curve revealed high crystal quality of the diamond with full width at half maximum of 94 arcsec for ...

Reflection High-energy Electron Diffraction Study of Nanostructures: From Diffraction Patterns to Surface Pole Figure

open access: yes, 2009
In this report we present a brief overview of the growth of nanostructures by the oblique angle deposition where the nanostructures possess both out-of-plane and in-plane preferred orientations or a biaxial texture.

Microstructure, Thermal Transport, and Dry‐Sliding Tribology of Powder‐Metallurgy Al7075 Composites Reinforced With Sol–Gel‐Derived ZnO–rGO Hybrid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...
