Pole Figure Analysis of Graphite Material

Defect and Diffusion Forum, 2022
Graphite is a versatile material which is also used in various load bearing applications such as thrust bearings and dies for mechanical pressing such as hot pressing. Natural graphite has anisotropic layered structure which reduces its (compressive) strength in axes which are not parallel to c-axis.

Pole Figures of the Orientation of Apatite in Bones

Nature, 1971
THE orientation of the apatite and collagen in bone was first considered in this work because of its significance in the possible piezoelectric effect in bone. Bone is a polycrystalline material composed chiefly of apatite and collagen, and crystals of a component must be both piezoelectric and orientated in order to produce an overall piezoelectric ...

The Validity of the Pole Figure

Journal of Applied Physics, 1945
A [110] pole figure for cold-rolled and annealed silicon steel, constructed from data obtained with an integrating x-ray camera, is compared with a stereographic projection of [110] poles for one hundred individual grains in the same samples. From this comparison, it is concluded that pole figures are accurate enough to determine preferred orientations
